Kanha — The forest that inspired The Jungle Book.

Vast sal-dominated woodlands, open meadows dotted with barasingha and a tiger population that helped rewrite India’s conservation story. Kanha isn’t just a reserve; it’s the blueprint. One of the original nine tiger reserves declared under Project Tiger and still one of the most beautifully managed jungles in the country.

Bandhavgarh — The highest tiger density in India.

Ancient fort ruins scattered across sal forests, dramatic cliff lines and a landscape that produces some of the most iconic tiger images in the world. Nearly every serious wildlife photographer has a Bandhavgarh chapter in their portfolio and for good reason.

Panna — The greatest comeback in Indian wildlife.

By 2009, Panna had lost every single tiger. Today, it’s home to a thriving, breeding population, a rare powerful proof of what focused conservation can actually achieve. Rugged terrain, the Ken river cutting through the reserve and sightings that feel genuinely earned.

Pench — where Kipling set The Jungle Book.

Teak forests, open grasslands and the Pench river winding through it all. This is Central India at its most cinematic, dry, dramatic light, sweeping landscapes, and one of the most photogenic tiger habitats in the country. If you shoot wildlife, Pench gives you frames that don’t need much editing.

Satpura — The wildest of them all.

Rugged hills, deep gorges and dense forest cover. Satpura is the only reserve in India where you can safari, walk and boat offering a wildlife experience unlike anywhere else. Fewer crowds, wilder terrain and a chance to slow down and actually read the jungle.

Bandhavgarh is never just about the tiger.
It’s about the forest, the people and the experience that surrounds the safari.

During our recent expedition, The Untamed by TUTC became our home between long days in the jungle. Set quietly on the edge of the forest, the camp carried a rare balance close enough to feel the wilderness through the night, yet calm and comfortable once the safaris ended.

The tents were beautifully designed, the hospitality thoughtful and the meals the perfect pause between intense drives in the field.

For us at Ecotrailz, the details matter from reliable safari vehicles to guides who understand the rhythm of the forest. The team ensured everything ran seamlessly, allowing our participants to focus on what they came for: The experience of the wild.

And in the end, it was the people who made it special.
