गडकिल्ले, वारसा आणि जागतिक पर्यटन दिन

जागतिक पर्यटन दिनाचे औचित्य साधून राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजनेने (NSS) “छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांचे गडकिल्ले आणि युनेस्को जागतिक वारसा” या अत्यंत महत्त्वाच्या विषयावर एका विशेष व्याख्यानाचे यशस्वी आयोजन केले.
या व्याख्यानासाठी किल्ले अभ्यासक आणि मराठा मिलिटरी लॅंडस्केप युनेस्को नामांकन प्रक्रियेत सक्रिय असलेल्या टीमचे सदस्य, श्री. प्रताप पाटील यांनी विद्यार्थ्यांना मार्गदर्शन केले. त्यांनी मराठा साम्राज्याच्या अद्वितीय शौर्यगाथेचे प्रतीक असलेल्या १२ गडकिल्ल्यांच्या संदर्भात जागतिक वारसा नामांकनाची नेमकी प्रक्रिया कशी चालते, याबद्दल सखोल माहिती दिली.
श्री. पाटील यांनी वारसा स्थळांचे सांस्कृतिक आणि ऐतिहासिक महत्त्व स्पष्ट केले, तसेच या गडकिल्ल्यांना युनेस्कोचा जागतिक वारसा दर्जा मिळाल्यास होणाऱ्या महत्त्वपूर्ण बदलांवर प्रकाश टाकला. अशा दर्जामुळे पर्यटन क्षेत्राला आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर कसा प्रचंड लाभ होईल, स्थानिक तरुणांसाठी शाश्वत रोजगार आणि स्वयंरोजगाराच्या संधी कशा निर्माण होतील, यावर विशेष भर देण्यात आला.
या कार्यक्रमाचा मुख्य उद्देश केवळ माहिती देणे हा नव्हता, तर विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये गडकिल्ल्यांकडे पाहण्याची एक जागरूक दृष्टी निर्माण करणे हा होता. विद्यार्थ्यांना गड पाहताना त्यातील बारकावे, जसे की वास्तुशास्त्रीय रचना, गडांचे संरक्षणात्मक महत्त्व आणि प्रत्येक गडाने जपलेला इतिहास, त्यातील गूढ आणि रहस्ये कशी उलगडून पाहावीत, याची ओळख करून देण्यात आली. हा प्रेरणादायी कार्यक्रम महाराष्ट्राच्या ऐतिहासिक वैभवाचे जागतिक महत्त्व अधोरेखित करणारा ठरला.

Every fort holds stories carved in stone.
This formidable Sharabha in the first frame, found in various Deccan (Maratha) forts is a part lion, part bird, embodies Lord Shiva’s power to calm the fury of Narasimha.

In the second frame the rare Gandaberunda, a two-headed bird gripping mighty elephants, symbolises Vishnu’s strength to restore balance.
These carvings were more than ornamentation, they were symbols of authority, divine protection, and cosmic order, guarding the thresholds of Deccan forts.
Walk these trails, and you don’t just see stone…
