Chopta, a serene hamlet in Uttarakhand, is known as the “Mini Switzerland of India.”

Located at 2,680 meters, it serves as the base for the Tungnath and Chandrashila treks. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (225 km), and the closest railhead is Haridwar (200 km). Connectivity is via scenic roadways through Rudraprayag. Visit from March to May for lush meadows or December to February for snow-covered landscapes.

Simple local dishes like Aloo ke Gutke and Mandua Roti are must-tries. Stay in eco-lodges or campsites. Carry warm clothing, trekking gear, and essentials for this offbeat, eco-friendly retreat.

Adalaj Stepwell: A Timeless Marvel of Gujarat

Tucked away in the heart of Gujarat, the Adalaj Stepwell is more than a feat of engineering—it’s a poetic tribute to an era of grandeur.

Built in 1499 by Queen Rudabai, this five-story marvel offers an intricate labyrinth of carvings that reveal tales of devotion, love, and culture. As you descend into its cool depths, the play of light and shadow transports you back to a time when stepwells were lifelines for arid communities and a space for spiritual retreat. Every corner tells a story, from the stunning floral motifs to the celestial carvings etched in sandstone.

If you’re seeking serenity in India’s vibrant landscape, Adalaj is a mesmerizing escape into the past—one where architecture and nature find perfect harmony.

Bodhgaya, nestled in the heart of Bihar, India, is a place where history and spirituality come alive. Known as the site where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree, this small town holds immense significance for Buddhists worldwide. The Mahabodhi Temple, an architectural marvel and a UNESCO World Heritage site, dominates the landscape with its towering spire and intricate carvings. It’s a place where pilgrims and visitors can feel the weight of history and the profound sense of peace that permeates the air.

The spiritual heartbeat of Bodhgaya is the Bodhi tree itself – a descendant of the original tree where the Buddha meditated. Sitting beneath its sprawling branches, surrounded by monks in saffron robes chanting rhythmic prayers, there’s an undeniable aura of tranquility. The temple grounds are a constant flow of devotion – from pilgrims prostrating before the sacred tree to travellers quietly absorbing the serenity.

But Bodhgaya is more than just a pilgrimage site; it’s a living, breathing embodiment of Buddhist culture. The streets hum with life, lined with shops selling handcrafted statues, prayer beads, and colourful prayer flags. Visitors can attend meditation sessions or visit one of the many international monasteries that dot the town, offering a taste of Buddhist traditions from across the globe.

Bodhgaya is a place where the spiritual and the everyday coexist effortlessly – a peaceful refuge for those seeking not just enlightenment, but also a deeper connection with the cultural heritage that continues to thrive here.

Taipei is a vibrant metropolis where tradition and modernity converge in a seamless dance.

This dynamic city blends its rich Chinese heritage with layers of Japanese colonial history and a contemporary global flair. Wander through bustling night markets where the aroma of stinky tofu and bubble tea mingles with the lively chatter of vendors. Venture to centuries-old temples, like Longshan, where incense smoke curls up to the heavens, carrying prayers and wishes.

Taipei’s skyline is punctuated by the iconic Taipei 101, a symbol of the city’s rapid growth and cutting-edge technology. Yet, just a short MRT ride away, you’ll find tranquil tea plantations and lush hiking trails in the surrounding mountains, offering a serene escape from the urban buzz.

The city’s public transport system is efficient and easy to navigate, making exploration a breeze. Whether you’re savouring xiaolongbao at Din Tai Fung, relaxing in a Beitou hot spring, or marvelling at the treasures of the National Palace Museum, Taipei offers a diverse and immersive experience that effortlessly captures the heart of every traveller.

This is a city where the past and future meet, inviting you to experience its unique rhythm.

Kenya - The Real Deal destination.

Kenya's stunning beaches might tempt relaxation, but the abundance of thrilling activities keeps visitors on the move. With diverse landscapes, from equatorial glaciers to wildlife-rich plains, and a mix of cultures, every moment in the country offers surprises.

Kenya truly stands out as a compelling destination, with considerable potential to capture the attention of Indian travellers and secure a spot on their bucket lists.

We got to experience the magical Kenya last week during the pre-tour of OTOAI (Outbound Tour Operators Association of India) Convention in Nairobi in association with OneAbove DMC, Sarova Hotels and Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI).
