'There is beauty in simplicity'
The round trip journey started from Chandigarh via the lush valleys of Solan and Kinnaur to the desert like valley of Spiti all the way back to Chandigarh.
Right from the adventurous drive to our stay in Narkanda, the mild showers, foggy climate, driving by the apple orchards, the super awesome Sangla campsite, Batseri village walk, the beauty of Chitkul and Rakcham, views of the Kinner Kailash peak from our bungalow in Kalpa, being lucky to spot the huge monolithic pillar of Shiva amidst the cloudy morning, the bumpy ride on the bad roads from Kalpa, getting stuck for a few hours due to road widening work, whiling away the time playing dumb charade, beautiful sunset drive post Nako, the friendly local at Gue showing us the Gue mummy at an odd hour, the old world charm of the various monasteries we visited, spectacular beauty of Mud and the people and the rare Bhuchen performance, participating in a dance with the Bhuchen master and the villagers, surprise rainbow at Kibber and the yummy pakodas at the cafe there with views of Chichum village, sipping the herbal tea with the monk in Kye monastery who also showed us around despite the monastery being closed for the day, unexpected mild rainfall in this part of the valley, some fossil search at Langza and also tasting the local brew Ara, photo stop at Komic, sending a postcard back home from Hikkim and trying some local bread, wondering about the simple lives of the people and yet they seem content and happy, souvenir shopping in the streets of Kaza, trying out local cafe's in Kaza, pit stop at Kunzum pass, the solitude of Chandratal, hiking back amidst the beautiful backdrop to our campsite, the chilly night, some star gazing and spotting the shooting stars in the middle of nowhere at our Chandratal campsite, the non-existent road and bumpy ride from Chandertal up-to Rohtang Pass, the cafe hopping spree at Old Manali, our talented driver who brought us back safely to Chandigarh and the hospitality of the people made us feel at home. And that's how we rolled in Spiti!
