Kaas is popularly known as the ‘Valley of Flowers’ of Maharashtra. This plateau during this season undergoes an amazing transformation. When visited in the right season, Kaas offers an enchanting view of carpets of flowers of different shades. Vast plans in shades of pink (balsam), purple (Catkin), blue (bladderwort) or yellow (smithia) convert the landscape into an artist’s canvas. Take a walk across this plateau with an expert and you can uncover a few hidden gems as well, like the Ground orchids- Habenaria, or insectivorous plants like Drosera and Bladderwort, or rare and endandered flowers like the endemic Satara Lace Flower (Y- Tura), three species of Ceropegia and Marsh Dewflower.

Nestled atop the Western Ghats, Amboli serves as Maharashtra's final hill station before the coastal reaches of Goa. Draped in mist, and surrounded by gushing waterfalls this tranquil forest boasts lush evergreen forests, providing an ideal habitat for reptiles and amphibians (herpetofauna). Amboli is known as the LAND OF THE ‘FLYING’ FROG because of the Malabar Gliding Frog which is found in abundance in the forest around Amboli. The forest echoes with the calls of diverse frog and toad species, orchestrating a colourful symphony to woo their mates. Recognized as a Biodiversity Hotspot, Amboli hosts an array of amphibians and reptiles, including the Fungoid Frog, Bi-colored Frog, Amboli Bush-frog, Amboli Toad, Beddome’s Cat Snake, Ceylon Cat Snake, Green Vine Snake, Malabar Pit Viper, and various caecilians.
