The temple complex on the top of the Magaladevi Hills facing the Cumbam Valley of Tamilnadu consists of four shrines of different sizes and orientation confined to a well defined Prakara with a fairly large sized Gopuradwara. Among the four temple precincts one is large facing east with a covered GarbhaGriha, Ardhamandapa and an open courtyard. There is a sub-shrine with the trunk of an image, the naval of which appears to be that of a female in Ardha-Paryanka pose. The image is made of soft granite. There are other two sub shrine also in the complex; it is datable to 8-9 century A.D.

Considering the historic and Architectural value, the Department of Archaeology declared it as a protected monument in 1983.

Mattupetty Lake and Dam, which is located 21 km from Igloo Nature Resort, enroute Top Station, at an altitude of 1700 mt, are popular picnic spot with visitors. The lake and dam surrounded by wooden hills and tea plantations, makes a great view.

The Shola forests around Mattupetty are ideal for trekking and bird watching, with the variety of birds found there. Small streams and waterfalls cut through the tract here and there, which again adds more attraction to the place.

Boating is also allowed on Mattupetty Lake and combined with picnic and trekking, makes for a great outing from Munnar.

In Munnar we can see the Assam variety of tea plants. Regular pruning keeps its height to a more manageable 4 to 5feet tall. It has an economic life of 40 years with regular pruning and plucking.
