The Mammoth Project

The Mammoth Project The Mammoth Project Here at The Mammoth Project we believe that the protection of our beautiful planet is in everybody’s interests.

Our mission is to spread this message far and wide by inviting people to see the natural world as something filled with awe, inspiration and beauty to which each and every one of us is inextricably linked. Through organising adventure tours, workshops and community outreach projects The Mammoth Project aims to help people reengage with the living planet that we inhabit, developing a platform from

which we can start a conversation about sustainability and conservation. Inspiring people who are not normally involved with conservation and sustainability is of particular importance to us. We will achieve this by highlighting the ways we can all benefit, economically, socially and spiritually, from taking care of the natural world. In the future we aim to fund research and support organisations that work towards conservation goals across our planet.

Having a peaceful sighting away from the crowd is always a pleasure! The tiger is a mesmerizing animal but we ensure to see and experience the forest as a whole rather than concentrating on just one animal. Doing so often gives us the opportunity to have incredible sightings away from the bustling chaotic crowds.

Is there a better feeling than spending a moment alone with this gorgeous animal?

Our recent trip to tadoba was a wonderful success, not because we saw tigers (we saw a few), but because we were lucky to have sightings like these, away from the bustling crowds.

Safari season brings many to the forests and unfortunately that does tend to crowd up most places. We always try to make the trips more wholesome by not concentrating on just one species. We are there to experience wildlife as a whole, which is why we are often away from the crowds and are awarded with such wonderfully silent and peaceful sightings of exciting animals!

Next time you go for a safari, make sure you enjoy the forest as a whole!

Happy International Tiger Day!

Every July 29, we come together to celebrate and protect one of the world’s most incredible animals—the tiger! Did you know there are fewer than 4,000 wild tigers left? That’s why days like today matter so much.

Tigers keep forests healthy, balance ecosystems, and are symbols of beauty and strength. But they face big threats, like habitat loss and poaching. Countries like India have worked hard on projects to save them, and there’s still hope if we all help!

Let’s keep roaring for tigers and support efforts to protect them.
Remember: saving tigers means saving forests—and securing a healthier planet for everyone.

Indian Leopard
Panthera pardus fusca

Hey nature lovers! Meet one of India's most incredible big cats - the Indian leopard! These spotted beauties are absolute masters of adaptation. What makes them so special? They're like the ninjas of the cat world - incredibly stealthy and can climb trees with prey twice their body weight!

These gorgeous cats are found across the Indian subcontinent, from the dense forests of the Western Ghats to the rocky hills of Rajasthan. They're super adaptable and can live in tropical forests, grasslands, and even near human settlements (though they prefer to stay hidden). Unlike their African cousins, Indian leopards tend to be slightly smaller but are incredibly muscular and agile.

Here's a mind-blowing fact: each leopard's spot pattern is unique - just like human fingerprints! They're also excellent swimmers and can leap up to 20 feet horizontally. These solitary hunters are most active during dawn and dusk, making them crepuscular creatures.

Habitat: Tropical forests, grasslands, scrublands, and rocky areas across India, Nepal, Bhutan, and parts of Pakistan

Is the grass coming in the way?

The ignorant traveller often dwells on habitat coming in the way, but we go beyond, we rise above.

Join us on holistic ecological experiences, where the habitat is part of the charm, not in the way!

The aptly named Nav-rang, or Indian Pitta, makes its way away from central India in the winter but makes sure to return in the bright sunshine of the summer! We were pleasantly surprised to see our very first Pitta just a few days ago and are excited for the days to come!

Join us as we make our way through the breathtaking central Indian forests and if lucky, get a wholesome glimpse of this gorgeous bird!

Let's promise to never partake in Elephant Rides or Elephant Safaris on World Elephant Day!
