Spring in the hills brings along with it a promise of luscious sunny ripened peaches 🍑, bountiful spurts of wild flowers that find an abundant space in our home, and blooming bunches of pink and red roses, which we tend to with a lot of care and love. As the flowering season recedes, pretty white and pink blossoms give way to bountiful bright red and yellow fruits that ripen with patience on the droopy branches. There are apple 🍎, peach 🍑, and plum trees in our backyard. The fruiting season in the Kumaon lasts from April to July. August is spent in harvest. This is the advent of marmalade, fruit preserves, jam and pickle making season for the hill folk, as they now brace for the colder days in winter ahead. P.S. Hi! This baby has been in the making for a few years now. It is a cozy yet luxurious homestay nestled in the lap of Kumaon's himalayan range. I have personally conceptualized and designed the space, painstakingly putting it together brick by brick.
