Kitam Village bagged the Best Tourism Village Award among 791 competitors from 31 States & UTs and awarded on the occasion of World Tourism Day at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The competition was tough and was based on UNWTO Best Tourism Village Competition criteria.
At the outset, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Government of Sikkim, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department for benevolent support and guidance as well as Hon. Area MLA Melli, Hon. Zilla & Gram Panchayat, VAC Kitam, Forest and Environment Department, State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, WWF- India, RD Department, Wildlife Division Namchi, Kitam Bird Sanctuary Authority, BAC Namchi, SOS, Butterfly Society of Sikkim, ECOSS, Directorate of Ecotourism and all partners for their support to achieve the feat.
We dedicate this Award to Sikkim in general and the people of Kitam in particular.
