No Second Thoughts- Just Hop On

No Second Thoughts- Just Hop On Itching to go on the dream holiday? Well, have No Second Thoughts- Just Hop On! He called it the with the hashtag.

One early October 2016 night, after an entire year of working in a corporate media company, Antarik Anwesan typed a 700 word resignation letter and mailed it to his bosses. The next morning he opened an excel sheet and chalked out a travel plan for the entire coming month. Having experienced a lot more than what he had planned for himself, two months later he returned home a happy man with some aw

esome stories to tell. Among other things, he had climbed a freezing waterfall and played with snow for the first time in his life, danced in a silent party on a Goa Beach, visited a Police Station in a foreign country and got lost in a wild forest in the Himalayas. He had also made best friends out of strangers, impulsively cancelled his flight scheduled for 3 hours later and gone to catch a cloudy glimpse of the world’s third highest mountain. A love for travelling and storytelling had always been there; the month long travel helped bring it back to the surface. And this was when he decided he would never go back to a corporate job if he could. In April 2017, he led his first experiential group adventure trip to Rishikesh. He aims to lead trips targeted specifically at 18-35 year olds across India. To everyone who thinks a lot before planning a trip he simply says 'Have - Just Hop On!'

Planning a 3/4 day trip to Goa between Nov 30 - Dec 3 tentatively. We will stay at a cool resort, will go beach-hopping and try the watersports, get scooties and zoom through the countryside, sit atop the Dil Chahta Hai fort and think about life as the sunsets (for that candid shot for the camera), and head to the mighty Doodhsagar Falls (Chennai Express wala) and drench in the gorgeous waters. Be it solo or with friends, Goa always works its charm.

Beaches. Chilled beer. Scooties. Parties. Loads of fun. Who's in?

Drop your email ids below or DM me for the itinerary in case you would want to join. Also please do tag your friends and share with them.

Upcoming Trip Update:

A friend played Devil's Advocate and asked me several questions relating to the upcoming Rishikesh weekend trip. The most important question was:

'What's special about your trip and why should I choose it above others?'

I am sure a lot of people might have similar doubts. This was my answer:

'There are actually quite a few things:

1. We are staying at the ONLY functional beachside campsite near Rishikesh and this is awesome. (Last year beachside camping was banned in Rishikesh and Shivpuri and almost all camps are jungle-camps now, far away from the riverside)

2. The camp is located in the middle of nature, quite literally. It is far away from the city (40 kms uphill), has limited electricity and mobile coverage, and reaching it is an adventure in itself. At night you can see an insane number of stars, innumerable sounds from the forests, the soothing sound of the river flowing yards away from the tent where you sleep. There can't be a better way to connect with nature.

3. The insane amount of adventure activities (apart from rafting) that are available in the camp itself. 6 years ago, this was the first place I ever trekked, did kayaking, jumped from a cliff into the river, climbed a mountain and rappelled down it and attempted to swim (still haven't learnt). There is a private waterfall as well which we will climb. We are going to do all of it under guided supervision. If you still have energy left at the end of it all, there are 3 beaches to sit and relax or play volleyball, carom and darts. No other camp offers so many activities at a single place.

4. There are going to be two stretches of white water rafting that we shall do. No, not the basic 16 kilometre one. But two different stretches. Longer distance. Loads of small and big rapids. Immense fun. The entire group successfully did THE WALL in the last trip in April.

5. Safety: Loads of campsites and adventure companies have mushroomed in Rishikesh in the last few years offering rafting and other adventure activities at insanely cheap prices. It is a business and in loads of cases there is absolutely no care given to safety which has lead to several minor and major accidents. I wasn't aware of this until recently when my Delhi friends brought this into my attention while I was enquiring camping prices. When it comes to adventure activities like white water rafting, safety is of utmost importance and under no circumstance should be ignored. All the guides at our campsite are well trained and come with several years of experience not just in the Ganga, but also in Zanskar and Teesta river rafting.

6. On offer is an all inclusive package. Starting from the transportation from Delhi to the stay, the adventure activities, all meals at the campsite, sightseeing, guide and porter charges to reaching back in Delhi- all of it is included. (Check Inclusions and exclusions)'

This reminds me of another very important question a lady tripper was worried about and wanted photographic proof: 'Washrooms?'

This was my answer:
'We are going to dig pits in the forest, carry water in a mug from the river and do our business. Haha..
Well no. There are proper western style lavatories and clean spacious bathrooms at the camp. So do not worry about it at all.'

So come join us on this adventure. Basic details are on the event page. Ask me for the detailed itinerary, if you want it mailed. Bookings are underway and on first come first serve basis. So hurry up! :D

On the morning of 15th August we left at 6 am for Nubra Valley from Leh. We were stopped at the checkpost just outside the city. 'A VIP is going to hoist the national flag at Khardungla Top around 9-9.30 am. His vehicle will pass now and we shall allow passing of all civilian vehicles only after it returns', we were told.

This meant a wait of close to 5-6 hours at the least. There was no way of working around it. An inconvenience for over a thousand tourists just so a cavalry of 10-15 Very Important Persons could hoist the flag.

Everyone in the group was cheerful and understanding of the situation. Instead of sulking, we all climbed up the hill right next to the checkpost and started playing games with the beautiful Leh city in background. After about 3 hours when the sun was getting unbearable, we headed back to Leh for breakfast and waited for further news. We finally left around 12.30 pm for Nubra Valley via Khardung La, the highest motorable road in the world.

But the irony of life, democracy and freedom was right there in front of us that morning - 70 years of Independence later right on Independence Day, we were standing there trapped with no freedom of movement while they talk about ending VIP culture.

We did go ahead, played with snow and waved the tricolour on top of Khardungla. It was just the beginning of a trip to remember.
