Programme suggestion
Day 1: EUROPE – DELHI
Flight to Delhi, transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: DELHI – LEH
Flight from Delhi to Leh and transfer in hotel. In the afternoon visit to the Shanti Stupa and to the Sankar Gompa. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 3: LEH – SCHEY – TIKSE – HEMIS – LEH
Excursion to the Palace Ruins, to the Schey Monastery, whose name means literally “Cristal Castle”, and to the wonderful Tikse Monastery in Ladakh, the Grandgest of the Gelug school of Buddhism (also known as the Yellow Hat Sect). In the afternoon, visit of Hemis Monastery, the most important of the Red Hat Sect, here still live more then 500 monks. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 4: LEH – KHARDUNG LA – LEH
Breakfast and excursion to Khardung La the highest passable mountain pass of the world (5.602 m). Return to Leh for a guided tour of the city and of the market. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 5: KLOSTER SPITUK – ALCHI – PHIYANG
Today we will visit Spituk, one of the most important Monastery of the Yellow Hat Sect. After that, excursion to the Monastery in Alchi, hidden in an apricot grove. Because of its very good preserved paintings and decorations in Kashmir style, it became an Unesco world cultural heritage. On the way back to the hotel, stop in Phiyang to visit its monastery. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Leh.
Day 6: LEH – SARCHU
After breakfast, we start our excursion to the top of the world. First we will drive through the Taglang La pass (5.325 m), one of the highest passes of the world, then through the Lachalung La p ass (5.019 m). Here we can enjoy a wonderful view on the whole Ladakh mountain region. In the evening we reach the Sarchu camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: SARCHU – MANALI
Excursion to the 4.880 m high Baralacha pass. We will then go through deserts, nomadic villages, green valleys and after reaching the 4.000 m high Rothang pass, from where we can enjoy the high peaks on the north side and the green valleys on the south side, we will now go down on a winding road till Manali. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 8: MANALI – DHARAMSALA
Visit of the Hadimba Temple and excursion to the Himalaya mountains, along the Beas river, through the “Valley of Gods”, the city of Mandi (the Temple city) and finally up to Dharamsala, home of the Dalai Lama.
Day 9: DHARAMSALA – AMRITSAR
Unforgettable excursion to the Dalai Lama Monastery in Dharamsala, and then to Amritsar, the capital city of Punjab. Here we can join to the evening ceremony in the Golden Temple to pray for the night’s rest. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 10: AMRITSAR – DELHI
Visit of the Golden Temple, and flight from Amritsar to Delhi. Farewell dine and transfer to the airport. Flight back to
