From a single ray of light entering a dark room to a device that fits in your pocket, photography has always been about one thing: capturing time before it slips away.

It all started with the camera obscura, a room-sized marvel that could project an image but couldn’t save it. Then came the daguerreotype, which made it possible to permanently preserve a photograph, followed by the large format box camera that brought portraiture and documentation to more people. Film cameras made capturing memories accessible, turning everyday moments into lasting prints. The polaroid made those memories instant, long before “instant” became a digital word. Digital cameras broke free from the limits of film rolls, and finally, the smartphone brought an entire darkroom into your pocket.

Every leap was driven by the same desire: to hold on to a moment a little longer.

This World Photography Day, we celebrate that journey, and everyone who picked up a camera to freeze time.

Some places don’t just show you nature, they let you walk straight into it. Our recent Valley of Flowers trips was exactly that, an endless stretch of blooming meadows, mist rolling over the hills, and a rainbow that seemed to arch just for us.
