Hard to believe this is the middle of Manhattan! 🐦🌳
I spent just a few mornings exploring Central Park and was able to spot 52 different species of birds. The diversity is truly astonishing. The park’s mix of wooded areas, open meadows, quiet ponds, and dense thickets creates a range of microhabitats that attract both migratory and resident birds. In just a few hours, I saw warblers flitting through the canopy, a red-tailed hawk soaring above the Great Lawn, herons fishing in the Lake, and even a northern flicker tapping away at a tree near the Ramble. It’s easy to forget you’re in one of the busiest cities in the world — Central Park becomes a peaceful, living ecosystem, full of sound, color, and movement. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just love nature, it’s a truly magical place to reconnect with the wild right in the heart of New York City.
