Can the alternate support the aircraft after it lands?

Check more than runway suitability. Confirm weather separation, parking, handling, fuel, CIQ, operating hours, crew duty and passenger recovery.

September is not the month to remove monsoon contingencies from an India flight plan.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) does not attempt the first withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from extreme north‑west India before 1 September. Full withdrawal from the southern peninsula—and therefore the whole country—occurs only after 1 October.

A dry forecast at one airport is not proof that monsoon exposure has ended across your route.

Before departure, reconfirm:
• Destination and alternate weather
•Runway and apron conditions
• Handler acceptance, parking, and fuel
• Crew‑duty margins and passenger recovery options

Goa’s charter season is starting early this year. The first Russian charter is expected on 30 September 2026, with 6–7 weekly flights from Moscow and Yekaterinburg, followed by UK charters in November (4 weekly from Manchester and Gatwick). Advance bookings are already up around 7% compared with last year.

More charters = more movements into GOI and MOPA, and more pressure on permits, fuel slots, handling, and crew logistics.
