He had a Gold Medal in CA, a degree from MIT, and every reason to stay abroad.
He came back to Pune. And built a ₹6,455 crore global company from here.
S.B. Ravi Pandit, Co-founder and Chairman of KPIT Technologies, passed away on the morning of May 8, 2026, in Pune.
He was 71.
KPIT — founded in 1990 — today operates in 15 countries, has clocked 23 consecutive quarters of growth, and its software powers millions of vehicles worldwide in autonomous driving, EV tech, and clean mobility.
But that's only half the story.
He was the only private sector voice in India's National Green Hydrogen Mission. He drove India's first indigenous Sodium-Ion battery research. He co-founded Pune International Centre and Janwani. He served as President of MCCIA. He chaired the Research Council at CEERI. He was a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy. He co-authored an award-winning book on innovation.
And he did all of it — quietly. Without noise. Without ego.
Pune doesn't produce people like this often.
Tag someone who knew him or was inspired by his work. His story deserves to be told wider.
🙏 Om Shanti — Ravi Pandit | 1951 – May 8, 2026
