Connected to the exhibition Networks of the Past at the CSMVS Museum, Mumbai, we recently conducted a session of Scriptology — a workshop exploring the idea of scripts and writing systems, not just historically, but conceptually.

The session looked at how humans communicate through symbols, how writing systems evolve, and how scripts become carriers of culture, identity, memory, and imagination.

Participants also got a chance to closely observe, decode, and explore different writing systems for themselves — discovering how every script has its own rhythm, structure, and worldview hidden within it.

There’s nothing more exciting than watching children turn ideas into symbols and stories into scripts.
We recently conducted a Scriptology Workshop as part of the Summer Workshop at Parivar Pune, an initiative by violinist , who gave us the wonderful opportunity to spend time, learn, and have fun with the children.
The workshop was full of creativity, imagination, and fascinating writing systems imagined by the children themselves — and we’re already gearing up for the next one in Mumbai!
