Trek to Harihar Fort

Hello Trekkers,

We would like to invite you for one day trek to Harihar fort at Nasik.

Harihar, also known as Harshgad is a beautiful trek located 15 km from Trimbakeshwar. Harihar fort looks like rectangular in shape from base village and built on triangular prism of rock the edges of this stunning fort is absolutely vertical. Rock cut stair case leads you the fort.

There is a small temple of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva on the plateau. A small pond is there in front of this temple. There is small caves on top of the fort accommodating 10-15 people easily. One of the vertical drops of the fort facing the Nirgudpada village is called ‘Scottish kada’, perhaps because it was climbed for the first time in November 1986 by Doug Scott, the legendary Himalayan mountaineer. It took him two days to climb the cliff which is 170m in height.

Hadsar

Hadsar fort is among the many forts in Junnar region of Pune district which were meant for protection of the ancient commercial trade route from Mawal region to Kalyan via Naneghat. There is a marvelous sculpture design of the bastion and the fort entrance, which is not seen elsewhere. They are all carved from a single rock.
The uniqueness of this fort is in the construction of the entrance gate. The entrance gate, rooms for sentries, water cisterns, steps to the fort are all chiselled from single rock. There is temple of Mahdev at the top of the fort. There are stone cut idols of Ganesh, Garud and Hanuman in the temple. There is a big lake on the fort.

Kaas plateau is a plateau located near Satara. It is situated high hill plateaus and grasslands turns into a 'valley of flowers' during monsoon season, particularly from August to early October. Kaas Plateau has more than 150 or more types of flowers, shrubs and grasses. The orchids bloom here for a period of 3–4 weeks during this season. Kaas plateau is a World Natural Heritage site.

Vasota (also called Vyaghragad) is located in Satara district of Maharashtra. Vasota always remained with Marathas, Shirkes & Mores in 16th century. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj incorporated Swarajya in 1655 during the conquest of Javli. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj named the fort "Vyaghragad" (Vyaghra – means tiger), owing to its difficult natural defense. After Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Maratha Bajirao Peshwa carried on the Swarajya mission of ousting the Mughal invaders.

The fort today offers spectacular views of Koyana backwaters, forests of the Wildlife sanctuary and a superb trek for avid trekkers. Vasota trek offers a thrilling experience as you would be walking through dense jungle and you would get some amazing views of the surroundings.
