Dear All,

We are delighted to inform about MaChi's successful family reunion yesterday, that too after almost 1.5 years of gap due to pandemic. 30 enthusiast explorers experienced the dense forest of Bhimashankar WLS.

And needless to say, you all proved it again, that the bond with MaChi can not weakened by any external parameter like pandemic.😊🙏🤟

Highlights of this event:

2) Explored the Devrai and dense forest of Bhimashankar
3) Memories locked into photos, videos and importantly in everyone's heart.
4) Spent good time in the waterfall
5) Enjoyed Local food.
6) Appreciate efforts of Dr. Amruta & Dr. Suhasini for helping the kid to give confidence for her speedy recovery. Dr. Amruta helped the family financially for further treatment. This shows their responsible nature towards their profession.

कुठल्या प्रगतीच्या गप्पा मारतोय आपण? रस्त्याच्या दुतर्फा असलेल्या झाडांची काय कुणाला अडचण झाली काय माहित? असं वाटतंय आपण स्वतःच्या विनाशाच्या प्रवासास निघालो आहोत!😢

नवीन लावता येत नसतील तर किमान आहे तो तरी झाडं जपायला हवीत!

सायलेंट किलर...

निसर्गनिरीक्षण मोठी गमतीदार गोष्ट आहे. कधी कधी सहज आणि बसल्या जागी खूप चांगले अनुभव तयार होतात. आणि कधी कधी खूप फिरून फारसं काही पदरात पडत नाही. मागच्या रविवारी घराजवळील माळावर गेलेलो. तिथं वडाची काही मोठी झाडं आहेत, त्याखाली शांत मंदिर आहे. मंदिराच्या जवळ दीड दोन एकरांची मोठी पुष्करणी आहे. यामध्ये वर्षभर पाणी असतं. आजूबाजूला छान झाडोरा आहे. निसर्गतः वाढणारी कमळं आहेत. थोडक्यात काय तर अतिशय सुंदर , शांत आणि महत्वाचं म्हणजे पक्षी निरीक्षणासाठी उत्तम जागा आहे.

मी नेहेमीप्रमाणे कॅमेरा सेट अप लावून विविध हालचाली टिपत होतो. अचानक तळ्याच्या डाव्या बाजूने टिटव्यांचा कोलाहल कानावर पडला. मी डोकावून पाहिलं, पण काही अंदाज लागत नव्हता. काही मिनिटं झाली पण टिटव्यांचा आवाज कमी होत नव्हता. आजूबाजूला कुठलाही शिकारी पक्षी दिसत नव्हता. मग या टिटव्या का इतक्या गोंधळ घालत आहेत? मी विचार करून थकलो, आणि म्हटलं यांना काहीतरी भास होत असावा.

इतक्यात माझ्या समोर तंबोला (Red throated flycatcher) येऊन बसला. चिमणिहून लहान पक्षी! गुबगुबीत, मानेखाली ठळक नारंगी रंगाचा ठिपका, पुढे पोट आणि शेपटीकडे पांढरा आणि करडा होत जाणारा रंग. वरची बाजू पुन्हा करड्या रंगाची. पंख टोकदार. एकूण छोटा पण देखणा आणि रुबाबदार पक्षी. त्याचे फोटो घेण्यासाठी मी सज्ज झालो. तंबोला पानांमागून सावध फिरत होता. मी तो कॅमेऱ्याच्या टप्यात यावा म्हणून वाट पाहत होतो. इतक्यात टिटव्यांचा आवाज पुन्हा वाढला!

लक्ष विचलित झालं. मी पुन्हा आवाजाच्या दिशेने काही अंदाज लागतो का ते पाहत होतो. एका टिटविणे कर्णकर्कश आवाज करत आकाशात उंच झेप घेतली. काहीतरी गडबड आहे हे नक्की पण काय ते कळायला मार्ग नाही.

काही क्षण गेले आणि पाण्यावर एक रेषा उमटलेली जाणवली. पाणी दुभंगल जात होतं. ही रेषा वेगाने माझ्या दिशेने येत होती. काही फुटांवर आल्यावर लक्षात आलं की कुठला तरी साप आहे तो. मी पटापट फोटो घेतले. अतिशय सहज पण वेगाने हा साप तळ्याकाठी असलेल्या वृक्षाच्या मुळ्यांजवळ जाऊन बसला. मी फोटो निरीक्षणपूर्वक पाहिले पण सापाची ओळख पटेणा.

मी त्यातला एक फोटो, माझे मित्र आकाश डोळस यांना पाठवला. पाणदिवड (Checkered Keelback) अशी ओळख त्यांनी सांगितली. मी अजून माहिती घेतली तेव्हा कळलं की हा साप नदी, तळी अशा पाणथळ जागी राहणं पसंत करतो. बेडूक, छोटे मासे हे त्याचं प्रमुख अन्न आहे. हा साप बिनविषारी (Non-Venomous) आहे.

खरं तर या गडबडीत, तंबोला मात्र निघून गेला. हरकत नाही त्याची आणि माझी पुन्हा भेट होईलच! शेवटी निसर्गाचा आनंद मिळणं महत्वाचं!
