Sikkim announces the official opening of Doka-La and Cho-La high-altitude passes to Indian tourists from October 1, 2025, boosting adventure tourism and sustainable livelihoods in border areas.

Access is granted to Indian citizens with valid voter IDs, with permits available through registered tour operators.

As per the order, a maximum of 25 tourist vehicles and 25 bikers will be allowed daily at each location. Checkpoints will be managed jointly by the Army, Police, and the state Tourism Department, and tourist escorts will be mandatory. All vehicles are required to carry garbage bags, which can be disposed of at designated sites in Tsomgo and Kupup.

The permit fee of Rs. 1,120 covers sanctuary entry and conservation contributions, while visitors with official Home Department permits are exempt.
