Rusty-bellied Shortwing
Status: Near Threatened , Rare of all Shortwing and super Skulker

Justification of Red List category by Birdlife International
Recent surveys have found this species to be commoner and more widespread than was previously thought. Nevertheless, it is believed to have a moderately small population within its small range, and its numbers are suspected to be declining as a consequence of habitat loss. However, the range is not yet severely fragmented or restricted to few locations. For these reasons, the species is classified as Near Threatened.
This species was one of the Prime Target - I too was 50% on this but managed the species in Mishmi Hills with the help of Chipra & Rofic

The Second birding of the season for the year after a gap of 4 years was one of the recollections of my field days.
The Tour was a sprint covering species like Monal, Blood Pheasant of 4000 meters pre-breakfast, and Hodgson's Frogmouth (Batrachostomus hodgsoni) of lowland foothills of 700 meters pre-dinner on same day…. with Brigadier Bupesh Goyal and Sandeep Ramz , Peter Lobo

White-throated Redstart (Phoenicurus schisticeps)
Size: 15 cm
TAXONOMY: Ruticilla schisticeps J. E. Gray & G. R. Gray, 1847, Nepal. Monotypic.
C & E Himalayas E from Nepal, and C China (Qinghai S SE Xizang and N Yunnan).
IUCN Status: Lest Concern
HABITAT AND BEHAVIOUR: Altitudinal range 3000-4500 meters: Inhabits sub-alpine habitats, often near streams, below tree-line in open dry rain shadow areas with park-like forest of scrub oak and dwarf juniper, and regenerating burnt areas. Winters in similar habitats but also in leafless birch tracts, open meadows, stony scrub-covered hillsides, dry watercourses and near villages. In winter the bird may come down to around 2000 meter if a heavy snow in high altitude. Fairly common in Winters in Sikkim in high altitude

Himalayan Owl Strix nivicolum (41 cm )
OTHER NAMES: Himalayan Wood-owl, Chinese Tawny Owl
TAXONOMY: Syrnium nivicolum Blyth, 1845, Himalaya, Nepal.
IUCN Status: Least Concern.
VOICE/SONGS: Two clear rapid hoots, “coo-who”, the second note sometimes slightly longer and lower-pitched, repeated at regular intervals.
