nalsarovar -a well known sanctuary of gujarat is true bird paradise harbouring over 250 bird species over 70 types of fiowering plants and rich aquatic flora with nearly 50 species of algae nalsarovar is a wetland pulsating with life located just 64 kms. from ahmedabad. this large (120.82 sq.km) wate body has earned the distinction of being wetland of national importance and the status of an important bird area(iba). During winter months nalsarovar is visited by various species of ducks shore birds birds of prey and many other aquatic birds large conglomerations of lesser and grater flamingoes common and demoiselle cranes and two species of pelican fill the lake with their thousands of coots lake waters can be seen dotted with thousands of coots cormorants storks herons herons egrets Ibises tails and many other globally threatened species like saurus crane and indian skimmer
