The Nagalim Tours (TNT) came up with a first time ever event of organising a next-gen festival called “Freedom Festival: Zhophao” to be held on 27th-30th Oct 2017 at Zhophao, Senapati District, Manipur. It is very sad to learn that a particular village/section is against the tourist visiting the festival. We, the organisers had no clue that the venue is a disputed area. A team of TNT went to the venue for spot enquiry and there were many people settled in and around the valley, so the team enquired and asked if a festival with the plan can be organised, the settlers in the valley were so warm and welcoming to the plan. Henceforth, the name “ Zhophao” as told by the settlers was mentioned in the event’s promos. According to the notification published in some regional dailies where the Kaibi village triggered a target on the tourist/guests. We are shocked that an advanced Naga village has such ideology of not accepting tourist for nothing else but ‘ism’. We would have mutually come to an understanding where the organisers and the opposing village could promote tourism together but the threat to the tourist and the information came very late at the eleventh hour.
TNT and the well-wishers have been promoting vigorously since 3 months ahead of the event but non came up opposing to it but encouraged. To our surprise we came across notifications from the village authority opposing to the event only on the 8th of October and that our customers will be attacked by the said village. The publication/notification mentioned that the intention of the organisers is doubted but the intention of the village is infact also doubted by the organisers on targeting personally as the threat to customers were made and that the discontent on the organisers came only at the last hour. Here, we would like to clearly state that we have one objective which is promoting the probable tourist hotspots of Nagas and not any particular sub tribes of Nagas. Our operation expands even across the imaginary international border and let the Nagas on the eastern areas be explored and vice versa.
As quoted by one of our customer’s “Objection to such initiatives definitely dilutes the creativity of our young minds of their entrepreneurial acumen and discourages them from social engineering”, we feel this is a very sad situation where young minds are being blocked.

On this very situation we are compelled to defer the proposed date of the Festival indefinitely and the necessary advance payment of the customers shall be all refunded within 15 working days. The organising committee humbly apologise the well-wishers and the customers for failing you miserably this time. However, we promise that such narrow minded ideology will not be a stumbling block or a factor to stop promoting the beautiful land of Nagas as we are rich enough even if not this land.

On the ending note, we hope and pray that we Nagas learn to grow with better knowledge and wisdom on expanding one’s thought and ideology looking in the interest of the Nagas in general and forgetting the greed and jealousy.

River camping at the Bank of Barak River.

Barak River originates at Liyai village of Poumai Naga tribe. One of the biggest and longest river in the land of Nagas. Many folktales and rituals are associated with this river. The river flows westward into Mizoram and Assam and finally ends up in Bangladesh. The entire course of the river is approximately 475 km.

Tharon Cave: This is the mystical cave and the abode of fruit bats for adventure where different types of Hall like Lous hall, Dancing Hall, Meeting Hall and others are there. About 12 caves are located underneath.

A 655.6 m long cave, this cave can be explored inside out by enthusiasts, with the help of the map drawn outside the cave. It attracts tourists interested in an adventurous experience. It is also spelled as the Thaeuluan Cave.

Tharon Cave was used as a shelter for thousands of years. Excavations inside the cave produced items related to the Hobinian culture of North Vietnam. The cave is of great archaeological and historical significance and was developed for tourism. The road to Tharon was improved and a three kilometer long road to the cave entrance built. A plate at the cave entrance shows a map of the 655m long cave system.
