Pul Kanjari - a historical site lies 5 kms away from Wagah border, Amritsar. It is claimed to be one of many historical heritage sites built by art aficionado Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji. The story surrounding this pul (bridge) is that the king got it constructed for a dancer in his court, Moran. When she was crossing the canal, one of her shoes fell into the water and she coaxed the king to construct a bridge for her to cross it. The complex consists of a Shiva temple, the Sarovar (canal), a baradari (house with 12 doors) and a mosque. Bulk of the structure is made of Nanakshahi bricks, having lesser width and thickness, allowing more detailed work to be done. A walk or drive through this village is itself satisfying as you will see the green fields throughout.

Pul Kanjari is rich in history and holds a prominent place in the Indo-Pak wars. If one ever visits Amritsar or Wagah Border, this place can be visited which is simple and elegant. The place is less crowded with tourists and is peaceful most of the time and it is a good place for photography.

Traditional Himachali food in the making. This recipe is locally known as "askalu" which is made with rice flour. It used to be made during festivals like Diwali but is made on other special occasions as well. It is usually eaten with chini bura (white sugar powder) and ghee (clarified butter) or with shakkar (jaggery powder) and ghee and can also be enjoyed with urad dal (black gram lentil) . Quite famous in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh and some lower parts close to Shimla area but maybe made in some other regions of Himachal Pradesh as well with slight variations.

Week long famous Mandi Shivratri festival has started from 19th February. Mandi's Shivratri fair is a fascinating example of Himachal's multi deity culture.
