Bara Mangwa village is gaining fame as a calm tourist destination along with Chota Mangwa and Tinchuley. A mountain slope, famous for the Orange Orchard, Bara Mangwais settled atop Darjeeling Hills towards the western side of the Kalimpong hills in the Teesta Valley, with magnificent view of the convergence of Teesta and Rangeet Rivers on one side and with Kalimpong Hills on the other side is Bara Mangwa. At a driving distance of about 30 minutes from Bara Mangwa is Chota Mangwa, an eco-tourism village, where the farmers mainly practice organic farming in terrace cultivation. Oranges are mainly cultivated here, covering the entire village with an orange hue during the blooming season from October to February. Besides oranges, lemons are also cultivated in Chota Mangwa.

You can plan a trip to Bara Mangwa and Chota Managwa throughout the year except the rainy season. Colourful orchids mark the autumn months which is October and November. Winter is the time when both the valleys are flooded with oranges.

The park has recorded fifty species of mammals, 193 species of birds, 22 species of reptiles, 7 species of turtles, 27 species of fish, and other macro and micro fauna. The elephant safari in the Gorumara Forest is a great entertainment for the tourists visiting the Kalipur Village. You can also enjoy feeding the elephants and the local tribal programs in the evenings. On the other hand the famous Medhla watch tower from where they catch the sight of wildlife. The Watch tower is built adjoining to the Murti River from where you can see the herds of elephants crossing the river and also get a clear view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. BEST TIME TO VISIT

Kalipur Eco Village is also an ideal destination for passionate bird watchers there you can view a number of birds including, peacocks, serpent eagles, rufous treepies, bulbuls, drongos, black Ibis, greater pied hornbills and red jungle fowl etc.. The ideal time of visiting Kalipur starts from the mid of October and extends up to the mid of March. The park remains closed during the rainy season (15th June – 15th September) and reopens around the mid of September.

Kolakham is located in the Neora Valley National Park. It has an average altitude of 1981 meters (6500 ft). It is located 8 km from Lava and 38 km from Kalimpong.
Kolakham is in the fringe areas of Neora Valley Reserve Forest. It is far removed from urban life. While accommodation is available, bottled water, alcoholic drinks, medicines etc. are not available, and all tourists are to carry their own requirements. All payments for food and accommodation are to be made in cash (NO credit cards).
However, the trip can be greatly rewarding with a visit (jeep or trekking). There are many rare birds and animals and luckier ones are those who can sight wild animals. Changi Falls is just 3 km jeep drive plus 1.5 km walk down over 250 well built stairs.
One can also move around a little to Lava and visit the Lava Monastery and Neora Valley Interpretation Cente. Rishap offers a great view of the snow capped peaks. Charkhole, 32 km away, also has interesting views of the snow-capped peaks.
Summer temperatures vary from 5-200C, winter temperatures are around 0-80C.
Although the best time to visit Kolakham is during October-November time.
