Ampri Valley Ecotourism Development Society undertook tree plantations in Dikchak, the adopted village of Sonapur College on 29 July 2021 in the first phase. In the second phase, plantations were undertaken in another nearby village Bengpung Gaon on 1st August 2021.
A total of 21 saplings of Bokul and Krishnasura trees were planted along the roads. This initiative is more than just planting trees, it is more about nurturing and taking care of these saplings to see them grow. And with them, we too strive to grow and overcome these challenging times.
We are thankful to those who helped us in our endeavour. And we look forward to everyone's support and blessings to do better. We also pray for everyone's good health and shall work towards a greener planet.
Special thanks to the Department of TTM ( Sonapur College).
Something about the trees planted:
Bakul (Scientific name - Mimusops elengi) is a medium-sized evergreen tree. English common names include Spanish cherry, medlar, and bullet wood. Its timber is valuable, the fruit is edible, and it is used in traditional medicine. As the trees give thick shade and flowers emit fragrance, it is a prized collection of gardens.
Krishnachura / Gulmohar (Scientific name - Delonix regia) is a species of flowering plant in the bean family Fabaceae, It is noted for its fern-like leaves and flamboyant display of colour.
