In the harsh cold desert of Spiti, growing fresh vegetables through most of the year is not easy.❄️
This lack of year-round access to fresh produce directly contributes to high rates of anemia and nutritional deficiencies in the valley.
To bridge this gap, our community-led greenhouses leverage solar energy and traditional mud-building techniques to create a year-round growing environment. 🌱
For many families, these greenhouses have brought easier access to fresh produce, reduced dependency on outside supplies, and additional livelihood opportunities.
Through our ‘Greening the Desert’ Travel with Purpose program, you can experience Spiti far beyond regular travel.
🌱Come work alongside local communities, learn traditional mud building and solar-passive architecture, and physically help build a greenhouse for a local family.
