The Kashmiri word for autumn is Harud. Autumn is a special time in Kashmir, when the landscape transforms into a vibrant canvas of red, orange, and yellow. The state tree of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chinar tree, is a key indicator of the seasons in Kashmir. During autumn, the leaves of the Chinar tree turn from green to amber, and then finally to a fiery red.
