A Bahraini court has sentenced Sheikh Jassim Al-Haddad to one year in prison for reciting the elegy (Masaib) of Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (SA).

According to reports, he was arrested on August 23, 2026, after security forces raided his home in Karana, Bahrain. The case was later referred to the Minor Criminal Court, which issued the one-year prison sentence on September 16, 2026.

Sheikh Jassim Al-Haddad is known as a Husseini preacher (Khateeb Hussaini) in Bahrain.

The case has drawn attention among Shia communities and organizations, particularly because the reported charge relates to religious mourning and the recitation of the Masaib of Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (SA).
