Retired Army Jawan-Turned Taxi Driver Saves Tourist’s Life at Bumla Pass,Tawang..
A tourist taxi driver in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district rescued a woman tourist after she suffered severe breathing difficulties at the high-altitude Bumla Pass, located around 15,200 feet above sea level.
Urgen Norbu, a retired Indian Army soldier who now works as a tourist driver, quickly acted after noticing the woman’s condition worsening due to possible high-altitude sickness. When she suddenly lost consciousness inside the vehicle while descending, Norbu immediately performed CPR using his Army training and successfully revived her.
The woman later regained consciousness completely near PT Tso Lake and emotionally thanked Norbu for saving her life.
The incident highlights the dangers of extreme altitude and the importance of quick emergency response in high-altitude tourist destinations like Bumla Pass in Arunachal Pradesh.
