Kovalam Beach is an internationally renowned beach in South India. The famous sandy shore is located near the Kerala capital, Thiruvananthapuram.

At Kovalam Beach, tourists can enjoy the beauty of deep blue Arabian Sea in a serene, calm and mesmerizing ambiance.

Three adjacent cresent beaches named Lighthouse, Samudra and Hawah and a stunning bay of calm waters have made Kovalam the most favourite beach destination in India. The beaches at Kovalam are divided by the rocky formations that is projecting out to the sea.

Kovalam is extremely popular among westerners due to shallow waters and low tidal waves. It is also one of the oldest tourist enclave in India, which known among tourist circuit right in 1930s.

Sun bathing, swimming, surfing and other activities have turned this to a fun beach preferably for families.

Munnar, a favorite summer resort of the colonial times, is one of the most enthralling hill stations in India.

It is located in Idukki district of Kerala. Stretched along the Western Ghats mountain ranges, this all season holiday destination is a major attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists.

Lush green plantations, breath taking landscapes, exotic flora and fauna and the misty mountains covering unending expanse of tea plantations make the place a 'tourist heaven'.

The most sought after destination in Munnar is the Eravikulam National Park. The endangered Nilgiri Thar is protected here. Visitors can experience a close vicinity of the mountain goat species at Rajamala, the tourism zone of Eravikulam National Park.

The mating season of Nilgiri Thar falls during the month of Feb-March every year and the tourism zone will be closed for visitors during this period. The park also offers a magnificent view of the hill slopes covered in a 'carpet of blue', resulting from the flowering of Neelakurinji which blooms once in every twelve years.

Some of the major tourist attractions at Munnar includes Mattupatty dam, Echo-point, Tea Museum, Top station view point, Lakkam waterfalls, Blossom park, Cardamom, Coffee and Pepper plantations, Lockhart Gap and Rock cave etc.

Riding on an Elephant through the mountains and taking photographs with them and providing fruits to them at the end of the ride remains as an unforgettable experience in the minds of visitors.

Visitors experience a visual effect of the different stages involved in tea processing and the various machineries used for it through the museum visit.

The Hydel/Blossom park situated near the Pallivasal hydro-electric power project is an ideal picnic spot for families who wish to enjoy activities like cycling, boating, roller skating etc.

How to reach Munnar

The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport, which is 110 kilometres away by road. From Cochin, you can hire a cab to get to Munnar. The Madurai International Airport is 140 kilometres away from Munnar.

The nearest railway station from Munnar is at Aluva, which is at a distance of 110 kilometres from Munnar. The Ernakulam Railway Station is 130 kilometres away while the Madurai Railway Station is at a distance of 135 kilometres.

Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthianus) is a shrub that is found on the hill slopes of the Western Ghats at an altiltude between 6000 to 7000 feet. Nilgiri Hills, which literally means the blue mountains, got their name from the purplish blue flowers of Neelakurinji that blossoms only once in 12 years.

The next blooming season of ‘Neelakurinji’ is expected during July-October months in 2018 and at least eight lakh tourists are expected to arrive at the tourist town of Munnar during the four months.
