*RAMAKKALMEDU*
Ramakkalmedu is located about 15 km from Nedumkandom on the Munnar-Thekkady route and is a hill station and a hamlet in Idukki district in the state of Kerala. It provides a panoramic view of Tamil Nadu villages and towns. It is the proposed site for power generation using winds. This is a place where one can complete the visit in one day. Other attractions in-and-around Ramakalmedu include places like frog rock, turtle rock and the highest twin-statue in Kerala; called Kuravan and Kuruthi.
Ramakkalmedu-is the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and located centrally between the famous tourist attractions of Kerala such as Periyar Tiger Forest of Thekkady, Kuttikanam and Parunthumpara, Munnar Hils station and many more wild life attractions and spice farms.On the way to Ramakalmedu, travellers can enjoy the vast stretches of plantations that include rubber, tea, cardamom, coffee, pepper and the beautiful hills of Kuttikkaanam.

*CHERUTHONI DAM*
The Cheruthoni Dam, located in Idukki Districtof Kerala state. It is a 138m tall concrete gravity dam. This dam was constructed as part of the Idukki Hydroelectric Project along with two other dams at Idukki and Kulamavu. The project was completed with Canadian aid. The Government of Canada aided the Project with long term loans and grants.
The water impounded by these three dams of Idukki, Cheruthoni & Kulamavu has formed a single reservoir spread over 60km on a height of 2300 ft above sea level. The Idukki Dam is a double curvature arch dam constructed across Periyar River in a narrow gorge between two granite hills. Cheruthoni Dam is located 1km west of Idukki dam. The spill way of the Idukki Reservoir is in the Cheruthoni dam. Construction of Cheruthoni Dam, Idukki Arch Dam and Kulamavu Dam created an artificial lake of 60 km and the water stored, is used for production of electricity at the Moolamattom Power house. The power house at Moolamattom is the biggest underground power station in India and the pressure shaft is the largest in the country. Cheruthoni is the largest and highest gravity dam in Kerala.

The Idukki Arch Dam and Cheruthoni Dam are both situated at around 7 km away from this place. The place is known for its picturesque and pleasing ambiance. Kulamavu is one of the famous hill stations in Idukki district of Kerala state. With a height of 3,000 ft above the sea level, it is an ideal place for trekking and tourists. It is sure to enjoy the ariel view of the area while trekking.
Kulamavu Dam, which is one of the three dams of Idukki Reservoir Project, is the main attraction of the Kulamavu. Stationed at the western side of Idukki Arch Dam, the world's second arch dam, Kulamavu extends between rocky hills to form the 33 Sq.km reservoirs.
Boats are also available for 2 hrs cruise between Cheruthoni and Kulamavu dams.
Kulamavu is sorounded by the Dam and forests, the place is famous for its natural beauty and climate.

*IDUKKI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY*
Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary is located at about 40 km from Thodupuzha, Idukki district,in the state of Kerala. This sanctuary extends over the Thodupuzha and Udumbanchola taluks of Idukki district, spreading over 77 sq.km. and is about 450-748 m. above sea level. The Idukki Reservoir formed by three dams - Cheruthoni, Idukki and Kulamanu - extends to 33 sq.km. This sanctuary occupies the forest land between the Cheruthoni and Periyar rivers. There is a scenic lake around the sanctuary, covered by an enchanting canopy of tropical ever-green and deciduous trees, and offers boat rides. The wildlife here is similar to that of Thekkady. Elephants, bison, sambar deer, wild dogs, jungle cats, tiger, wild boar etc. are seen here apart from various species of snakes including cobra, viper, kraits and numerous non-poisonous ones. Birds include grey jungle fowl, Malabar grey hornbill, several species of woodpeckers, bulbuls, flycatchers, etc. This sanctuary lies adjacent to the world renowned Idukki Arch Dam.
