Padubidri: Four persons were injured when a Volvo bus collided head on with an Indica car, at Hejmadi here on NH 17 on Wednesday evening. While all the injured were travelling in the car, it is said that the car is also badly damaged in the accident.

The Volvo was on its way to Mangalore from Manipal, whereas the inmates of the car where returning to Mumbai after they met their relatives living in Madikeri. It is said that the bus was trying to overtake a lorry, when the bus driver failed to notice this Indica car coming from the opposite direction.

The injured were rushed to the Mangalore private hospital. They were identified as Prasad Padmashali (43), his wife Sh*tal Padmashali (32), son Shreyas (6) and driver Rajesh (31) who was a native of Mangalore. Doctors claim that the condition of Shreyas is critical.

A case has been registered in Padubidri Police station.

yeah satish dozerbull is right...volvos cruise like cars and imaguine the time difference between a car and an ordinary non ac private bus... with bursts of 12o kmph,they manage avg speed of 75kmph..imagine what would be the avg speed if the max top speed is 90...it`ll be around some 50 to 55 kmph..time difference will bne atleast 2 - 3 hrs..the idea of such superfast service is to make passangers reach within 7 - 70 so that they can reach to their offices by starting time usually around 9 o clock...what`s the use in reaching bus stand at 9 - 9 30 and getting half day salary cut???

Rescue operations underway at the bus accident site near Kothakota in Mahabubnagar district on Wednesday. 44 passengers were charred to death when a private bus went up in flames after hitting a culvert.
