Saiva Sacred Complex which was built & maintained by various kingdoms starting from Pallavas to till date spread across 25 acres on the foothill of Annamalai hill. Annamalaiyar temple is carved with beautiful sculptures around the temple complex and its very well known for its two important aspects. One is Raja Gopuram aka Rayar Gopuram which is South India's First Tallest tower and Grandeur 1000 pillar Mandapam.

Temple was revered by Saiva Saints Gnanasambanthar , Appar & Manikavasagar and Murrugar Saint Arunagirinathar. Annamalaiyar temple has numerous inscription giving us lots of abundant information about our rich history.

Thousand Pillar Mandapam with Holy Annamalai on Backdrop!

Saiva Sacred Complex Annamalayar Temple situated on foothills of Annamalai in Tiruvannamalai , Tamilnadu , India has 1000 Pillared grandeur Mandapam in Fifth Prakaram adjacent to raja Gopuram and Kambathu Illayanar sannithi. This Hall was built by Great Vijayanagara Emperor Krishnadevaraya.

This Mandapam is used twice in a Year for Lord Natarajar Possesion during Aadi Thiruvathirai & Margazhi Thiruvathirai and it remains closed throughout the year.

And Western Portion of this Mandapam comprises the Pathala Lingam which is very famous and connected with Saint Ramana Maharishi who performed Meditation for so long days in this shrine.
