One more trekking destination added to the kitty. Trek to pavagadh hill (actual trekking in hilly & forested path & not the stairs).
Thanks Health first team, Smita madam and Ranjeet sir for providing us with the opportunity to organize this trek. Special thanks to Mr. Rajesh Rana (a veteran mountaineer) for agreeing to accompany us and lead the trek. To all the healthfirst trekkers, you did a phenomenal job. Happy to see trekkers as young as 8 years and as old as 68 years completing the trek successfully and helping each other out on rough patches, just like we do in life. Cyaa on next trek soon :).

For people who occasionally like to lose oneself in nature, solo backpackers, women wanderers, budget travelers or even family with kids or pets, Gurdum nestled in the lap of Himalayas just might be the place.

Picturesque - Adjoining the pristine Singalila National park (an unique biodiversity hotspot with orchids, elusive red pandas & the exotic bird satire trogopan), so lots of opportunity for the budding naturalist in you.

Economical - Food & stay will fit in your budget; but just keep in mind everything comes at an added cost when you are at an remote village 2000 meters above sea level.

Safe travel - The lovely people in the remote village will make you feel welcome & at home. Solo backpackers need not worry much, just remember to venture in the forests with a local guide.

Get fitter - The elevation and dirt tracks are ideal for people who wants to include some high altitude training in their marathon preparation regime. Also relaxing here for few days will help body gets acclimatized for further high altitude trekking.

More adventures is just a hike away - You can trek further upto Sandakphu which offers a majestic view of some of the highest Himalayan peaks. You can easily hike into Nepal ( if international travel is on your mind 😀). Have a hike n breakfast in Nepal and come back.

Easy access - Pristine yet you just 5 hours ride from Bagdogra airport.

Other things to do : visit nearby Chitre monastery ( in Nepal), ride the vintage Land Rovers of Maneybhanjyang.

Hi fellow trekkers as the Nation is gearing up to banning single use plastic; let's take a pledge not to carry any single use plastic or single use plastic drinking water bottle ( use and throw type) to any of the trek or any excursion for that matter. Coz even we don't litter and throw these bottles and plastics in designated bins it is unlikely those will be ever recycled. Think of the huge cost of bringing back these to nearest recycling point if any is available at all.
