This massive column of rock 180m high is host to a palace and fortress complex which is one of the finest examples of ancient urban planning.
Sigiriya derives its name from Sinhagiri which means lion rock. True to its name, halfway up the rock on a small plateau we find the gateway which originally was an enormous lion. Now only the feet are distinguishable.

According to legend, it was priorly the "City of Gods" but was renovated and used by King Kashyapa as his capital.
It was abandoned after the King, who was a bastard lost the challenge from his half-brother, Mogallana, the rightful heir to the throne.
It was later used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century.

Sigiriya consists of an ancient citadel built by King Kashyapa during the 5th century. The Sigiriya site contains the ruins of an upper palace located on the flat top of the rock, a mid-level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes, the lower palaces located behind the lavish lower gardens, and moats and ramparts which protected the citadel. The site was both a palace and a fortress. The upper palace on the top of the rock includes cisterns cut into the rock.

Beware of the steep steps and steep prices. Tour guides here as one could set you back up to Rs5000 and give you little value while entry costs USD 35. Otherwise, this World Heritage Site is one you should definitely add to your list.

The next location on our island watchlist is Bali, Indonesia. Bali has long been known as a paradise to travellers.

The first thing that comes to mind might be pristine beaches and ornate villas with infinity pools, and those are both common sightings here. But many fail to comprehend the wholesome package offered by it.

Pick your poison: Whether it is nature - waterfalls and jungles galore, filled with extensive wildlife, and lots of Macaques monkeys.
Parties - Find a happening one at every corner, in the club or on the beach.
Relaxation - Enjoy the beautiful resorts, or the surroundings, have a massage or traditional hair cream bath.
Shopping - Head to the Ubud art and culture centre, or check out the morning local markets, and find the latest fashion at Seminyak.

You get the idea.

Today we will be taking a look at Resorts World Genting, an integrated hill resort nestled on top of Mt. Ulu Kali in Malaysia.

The resort boasts of 10000+ rooms, a casino that spans the various resorts of the area in addition to being the only one in Malaysia, the longest and fastest cable car, and an expansive indoor and outdoor theme park.

It can be seen as a family and budget-friendly, Asian alternative to Las Vegas. It was built in the vision of Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong who was inspired to develop this 12000-hectare land into one of the most popular weekend destinations of the country.

The third issue is in today! Don't forget to check out the first two of you missed them.

1. Navigating train stations can be tiring, to keep things easy and efficient, pack light and use a roller bag.
2. Lost luggage is the last thing you need. Be sure to properly secure luggage kept in common areas.
3. To avoid the onset of boredom, plan in advance and bring a source of entertainment like a book or iPod with you during your journey.
4. While many trains boast of free wifi and have dedicated plugs for charging, this is not the case every time. Even when present plugs may be sparse, faulty and wifi could be laggy or unusable. Pack a power back up just in case.
5. Even when temperatures outside are hot, you could end up freezing inside. Better to pack a hoodie or blanket for yourself.

2. Prepare a day bag to keep personal belongings like electronics, important medications, snacks and water nearby.
3. Use an individual duffel bag or small backpack for keeping a change of clothes, towel, and toiletries so you don't have to carry your cabin bag to a one night stop.
4. Road trips are as the name suggests, spent on the road so ensure your car is as ready as you are. Chargers, medication, trash bags, and maintenance of the car itself.
5. Be sure you have everything you need to enjoy an amazing road trip. List may change according to season, location, and distance. Have a puncture kit ready just in case.
