A Living Prayer

At the edge of Kashi stands Lolark Kund — the “Well of the Trembling Sun.” Mentioned as early as the 8th century BCE, this ancient stepwell has seen the rise of Sun worship, snake cults, Shaivism, and Buddhism, yet its spirit has never dimmed.

On Lolark Shasthi, thousands of women step down its 16-meter-deep stairs with a single prayer: the gift of children and good health. They bathe, they leave behind sarees, fruits, even jewelry, carrying forward vows made generations before them.

Science cannot measure blessings in this water, but centuries of faith have kept the ritual alive. Here, devotion itself is the evidence, passed on through stories, hope, and lived experience.

In Kashi, Ganpati Pujan at Ramnagar Fort is no ordinary ritual – it’s the start button of the world’s largest Broadway: the month-long Ramnagar Ramlila.

Here, Lord Ganesh is invoked first so that the divine play flows without obstacles. On this day, not just Ganpati, but also the characters of the Ramlila, the sacred scripts, costumes, and the masks of gods are worshipped – bringing life to centuries of tradition.

The ghats fall silent, listening to her arrival.
Without words, she teaches — sometimes, we must pause.
In the quiet of closed shops, sunken steps, and still boats,
Varanasi holds its breath to welcome her.
This isn’t a flood...
It’s the homecoming of Mother Ganga.
And like always, the city embraces her with open arms.

It was raining in Banaras today.

One of the world's oldest Ramlilas - the Ramlila of Chitrakoot - which has been happening in some form before the formation of Manas by Goswami Tulsidas in Banaras 1631; i.e. in 1574 - was the Lila of Vangaman today.

Bhagwan ji left Ayodhya barefoot with Sitaji and Laxman ji today. On the way, his crown is wet, Sitaji's lap is wet and Lakshmanji's arrow bow. Got some rest in the night.
