In the sacred grounds of Prayagraj during Kumbh Mela 2025, I had the honor of meeting this Naga Sadhu multiple times.
Each time, I felt a powerful energy around him — something divine and grounding — but I never took a photo. Every moment I approached, either someone was receiving blessings or the background wasn’t right. I didn’t want to disturb the purity of that space.

But slowly, with time and repeated visits, we began to recognize each other. One day, he looked at me gently and asked my name, and where I came from.
I told him, “I am from Varanasi — the city of fire, where we offer wood as ‘Duna’ in sacred rituals.”
He smiled.

With humility, I asked, “Baba, may I take your photo?”
He looked at me with deep calm and said, “Yes, you can.”
I requested, “Please bless me in your pose, with your eyes relaxed — like you are looking into my soul.”
And he did.

With just one single click, the frame was complete. I showed him the photo, and he smiled warmly.
“Bhagwan tumhe ashirwad dein,” he said.
(God bless you.)

It was one of the most meaningful photographs I’ve ever taken — not just because of the image, but because of the connection.

Over the years, I’ve visited the Maha Kumbh four times, and each time, I find my way back to him.
He is not just a Sadhu to me. He is a symbol of inner strength, silence, and grace.
A silent teacher on my path.

In the Light of Gajanand Maharaj ji: A Meeting That Changed My Day

Today, something very special happened to me.
As I was walking through the streets of Varanasi, feeling a little lost and heavy inside, I saw an old Sadhu walking quietly near the road. There was something different about him — a silence, a glow, a presence. He looked timeless. I could not take my eyes away from him. My heart told me to follow him.

That Sadhu was Gajanand Maharaj ji, around 80 years old. A Bal Brahmachari, he chose the spiritual path since his childhood, and from then until now, he has walked it with full discipline and deep devotion. Originally from the holy banks of the Narmada River, near Omkareshwar Mahadev in Madhya Pradesh, his guru is from Ambika Ashram, Balipur.

I followed him quietly as he walked from the road to the ghats. At first, he did not want to be photographed. He gently said, "No, I am not interested in photos." But I introduced myself, told him about my own journey — how I have spent years documenting the lives of Sadhus, Naga Sadhus, Aghoris… not for fame, but to share their light with the world. I told him how I try to carry their energy through my photographs, like carrying sacred fire in my hands.

Something in my words touched him. He looked at me with eyes full of wisdom and said, “Okay, take one photo.”
But that was not the end.

We kept walking together. Slowly, a connection began to form. I spent time with him, listened to his words, and shared some silent moments that felt like lifetimes. Finally, at a quiet spot, I got a chance to take more photographs — not just pictures, but darshan. Every frame was filled with soul. It was not about photography anymore — it was about receiving a blessing.

He told me something I will never forget:
“Varanasi is not just a city. It is the main branch of spiritual energy. From here, the divine current spreads to the whole world.”

Babaji arrived in Varanasi just three days ago, and I feel incredibly lucky to have met him. I cannot explain how I feel. I had not eaten anything since morning, I was walking with a heavy heart… but after meeting him, I felt so full, so alive, so lighted from within. I didn’t need food — I had Prakash, I had his energy.

He explained that 80% of our power comes from nature, and 20% from the connection of the eyes.
I believe it now, because when I looked into his eyes, something awakened in me. That moment… I will carry forever.

Later, I offered to take him for chai. We sat together in peace. But when it was time to pay, he insisted:
“Let me pay. If you respect me, please allow me.”
I almost begged him not to, but he smiled and said gently, “This is my love.”
That moment touched me more than anything.

Even now, hours later, I still feel his presence. His light is still walking with me.
And maybe… just maybe… in my darkness, he was sent by Lord Shiva himself.

Thank you, Babaji, for this gift.
I will never forget this day.
