In this terrible covid crisis it can feel like we are behind bars and never getting out. What's mostly needed now is good supply chain of neccesary goods and caring medical services. Indian saints have led the way in the discovery of new ideas, from the zero to metaphysics. Let's hope and pray for those facing crisis in this very real world as we meditate and discover what lies beyond.

Since the epic times of the , India has long celebrated the art of . Even Lord Krishna himself was a great wrestler: he vanquished the evil king Kamsa with his skill in this art, and later even won the hand of his wife Jambuvati therewith.

Despite these epic connections, wrestling was always more within the cultural sphere of the common people than of the royal courts - the figure of Krishna belongs with the people, and indeed it was he who taught wrestling to the Jetha-malla Brahmins of Gujarat.

However, in recent centuries, wrestling in india has evolved and spread across North and Central India, due to its association with Hanuman, an incredibly powerful devotee of Lord Rama. Devotion to Hanuman became widespread upon Tulasi Das writing his , with the elevation of the "Monkey God" as both hero and reader's role model: a common man could not aspire to be like Rama the God-king, but could indeed aspire to be like his perfect devotee.

Now, across North India, many Hanuman temples have a nearby associated wrestling (wherein all temple rules must be followed), where young men, pure of body, offer their practices and bouts to the god of wrestlers, who is pleased by their devotion.

Panchkosi Yatra

The city of Varanasi rests on the trishul or trident of Shiva. This includes a 10 kilometre radius around into the countryside that is circumnavigated by pilgrims for five kos or about 80 kilometres.

Now starting from Manikarnika the pilgrimage traditionally began at Gyan Vapi well in the Kashi Vishwanath complex.

The first major halt is in the village of Kandwa at the oldest temple in Banaras Kardemeshwar Mahadev, established by the the Rishi Kardama who was the father of Kapila Muni.
