In view of the closure of Iraqi airspace: Iraqi citizens currently in Germany whose Schengen visa will expire before they can return to Iraq, are advised to contact the Foreign Affairs Department (Ausländerbehörde), in the city where they are in Germany, and apply for an exceptional extension of their residence.

On the occasion of the current regional situation: We advise all German citizens currently staying in Iraq to register for the crisis preparedness list of the Foreign Office:
