المؤسسة العراقية للتنمية The Iraqi Institution for Development IID a humanitarian non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2003

The Iraqi Institution for Development “IID”, is a local organization that represents Iraqi Youth. In IID, we believe that Iraq is rich in its resources and that ignorance and poverty are not invincible. Since its establishment in 2003 as a humanitarian organization, IID works on fighting ignorance, poverty and hunger and it provides education and emergency humanitarian assistance in crisis in Iraq

. Now IID is one of the NGOs in Iraq that is active, independent, and nonprofit organization and operational nationwide. IID main office is in Mosul and has branches in Erbil and Basra and has many partnerships with International and local authorities in order to achieve its goals and serve its people. IID, along with its local and International partners, adopts vulnerable people and defends them in International forums and meetings without any religious, racial or sectarian considerations or political affiliations. Internally, IID does its best to influence and amend the internal policies to fight ignorance and poverty. IID activities are no longer limited to activities that just defend the vulnerable in Iraq, but it exceeds to fight the causes and find ways to enable and educate society politically, economically and socially to achieve justice and equality. IID also conducts many activities in the subjects of democracy education, human rights and protection.

من أم الربيعين، ومن أجل غدٍ أكثر سلاماً
من ١٧ إلى ١٩ حزيران، نظمت المؤسسة العراقية للتنمية (IID) تدريباً لمدة ٣ أيام في الموصل تحت عنوان:
"الحد من التطرف العنيف داخل المدارس."
من خلال نقاشات فعّالة، وأنشطة تفاعلية، ودراسات حالة من الواقع والتي حضرها 30 متدرب من 30 مدرسة في محافظة نينوى، عملنا مع المعلمين على إعادة بناء الوحدة، وتعزيز الصمود، ونشر ثقافة السلام في المجتمعات الخارجة من النزاع لتعزيز الاندماج المجتمعي وإعادة النازحين إلى مناطقهم.
نؤمن أن المدارس يمكن أن تكون بيئة آمنة للتسامح والتعايش والأمل. 🌱✏
تم تنفيذ هذه المبادرة بفضل التمويل السخي من الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية USAID والصندوق العالمي للمشاركة المجتمعية والصمود GCERF #نينوى

From the City of The Two Springs, for a More Peaceful Tomorrow
From June 17 to 19, the Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) organized a 3-day training in Mosul titled:
"Preventing Violent Extremism in Schools."
Through engaging discussions, interactive activities, and real-life case studies attended by 30 trainees from 30 schools across Nineveh, we worked with teachers to rebuild unity, strengthen resilience, and promote a culture of peace in post-conflict communities — fostering social cohesion and supporting the return of displaced people to their areas.
We believe schools can be safe spaces for tolerance, coexistence, and hope. 🌱✏️
This initiative was made possible with the generous funding from USAID and GCERF.

المؤسسة العراقية للتنمية IID تحصل على صفة "مراقب دائم" لدى مؤتمر الأطراف في اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغيّر المناخ (UNFCCC)

تُعلن المؤسسة العراقية للتنمية (IID) بفخر عن اعتمادها رسميًا كـ منظمة مراقبة دائمة لدى مؤتمر الأطراف لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغيّر المناخ (UNFCCC)، وذلك بموجب الوثيقة الرسمية الصادرة عن أمانة الاتفاقية FCCC/CP/2024/2

ويُعد هذا الاعتماد خطوة مهمة تُمكّن IID من حضور المؤتمرات والفعاليات الدولية المتعلقة بالمناخ، والمشاركة الفاعلة في النقاشات حول السياسات البيئية العالمية، بما يعزز من تمثيل المجتمع المدني العراقي على الساحة الدولية.

وتعكس هذه الخطوة المكانة المتقدمة التي حققتها IID في مجالات التنمية المستدامة والعمل البيئي، والتزامها الدائم بمواجهة تحديات تغيّر المناخ من خلال مشاريعها المبتكرة وشراكاتها مع مختلف الجهات الدولية.

The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) Granted Permanent Observer Status to the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP)

The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) proudly announces its official accreditation as a Permanent Observer Organization to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP), as confirmed by the official document issued by the UNFCCC Secretariat (FCCC/CP/2024/2).

This recognition marks a significant milestone, granting IID the right to attend future climate-related conferences and global events, and to actively contribute to discussions and policymaking on environmental and climate issues. It also enhances the representation of Iraqi civil society on the international stage.

The accreditation reflects IID’s growing role and recognition in the fields of sustainable development and environmental action, as well as its ongoing commitment to addressing climate challenges through innovative projects and international partnerships.

IID reaffirms its dedication to leveraging this international status to support environmental protection efforts in Iraq, empower local communities to adapt to climate change, and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals through knowledge exchange and active participation in global climate decision-making.

on Sunday the 27th of April , we had the honor of welcoming the international media agency Reuters to the Ebtesama Center within IID in Mosul In partnership with Ashur Foundation, Aid Gate Orginazation, and GCERF, as part of their efforts to document stories of hope and resilience on the ground.
🎥 The visit aimed to shed light on the "Return with Hope" project, which focuses on supporting returnees and helping them reintegrate into society through mental health services, education, and the empowerment of women and youth.

تشارك المؤسسة العراقية للتنمية (IID) في فعاليات المنتدى العربي للتنمية المستدامة 2025، والمنعقد في بيت الأمم المتحدة – بيروت، لبنان، خلال الفترة من 14 إلى 16 نيسان/أبريل 2025، بتنظيم من لجنة الأمم المتحدة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغرب آسيا (الإسكوا)، وبالتعاون مع جامعة الدول العربية ووكالات الأمم المتحدة الأخرى.

ينعقد المنتدى هذا العام تحت شعار "إعادة الأمل، إعلاء الطموح"، ويسلط الضوء على تقديم حلول شاملة قائمة على الأدلة لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة 2030، مع التركيز على الأهداف التالية:

الهدف 3: الصحة الجيدة والرفاه

الهدف 5: المساواة بين الجنسين

الهدف 8: العمل اللائق ونمو الاقتصاد

الهدف 14: الحياة تحت الماء

🍀 Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) Participates in the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development 🍀
The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) is participating in the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development 2025, held at the United Nations House – Beirut, Lebanon, from April 14 to 16, 2025. The forum is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in collaboration with the League of Arab States and other UN agencies.

This year’s forum is held under the theme: “Rebuilding Hope, Elevating Ambition,” and focuses on evidence-based, integrated solutions to accelerate progress towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The forum will specifically review progress on the following five goals:

Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being

Goal 5: Gender Equality

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

Goal 14: Life Below Water

Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

IID’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to enhancing the role of civil society organizations in planning, implementation, and monitoring processes for sustainable development in Iraq. The institution will contribute to discussions particularly on Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), by sharing its experiences in livelihood support and vocational training for conflict-affected communities, as well as its efforts in building local and international partnerships to improve economic and social conditions.

Through its presence at the forum, IID reaffirms its dedication to inclusive and equitable development, and to amplifying the voices of local Iraqi communities in regional and global platforms.
