The Swedish viking F***y Lindström sailed with us last summer. Here she is taking a sip from the divine ale Mjöður (e. mead). Made from honey, yeast and water the drink has a long and interesting story. Some say it’s the first alcoholic drink human ever drank.
In Norse mythology Poetic Mead was considered a mythical beverage, whoever drinks it gets poetic inspiration.

Our daily tours from Reykjavik are starting the 1st of June 2017. Come join us, sail like a viking.

Come and join us and sail like a Viking. You will learn the Viking way to navigate on the sea and how to maneuver the sail like Ingólfr did when he settled in Reykjavik in 874 AD. Or you can imagine yourself to be Auður Djúpúðga when she fled from Scotland and settled in the West of Iceland with her crew.

I must say that this giant Lion's mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata) was brave to attack us on the Reykjavik Bay the other day. The Lion's mane is apparently the largest jellyfish in the world and it only lives in the cold northern seas. It can attain a bell diameter of over 2 m and may trail as long as 30 m or more. It tried to frighten me with the lion like mane, but I stared back with my mimicked berserk expression of Egill Skallagrímsson and it was quick to flee.

When old meets new. My ancestors might have attacked this luxurious ship if they had encountered it on their Viking ships. We used it as a mirror.

My Icelandic Viking spirit is happy with all these pokémons from PokemonGo. They are similar to the small elves that we have had all around Iceland since we first came here. We are happy that other people are finally able to experience how it is to live in a community with hidden people, elves, trolls and other creatures. Our guest on our recent Viking Adventure sailing tour sent us this picture of a Pokémon on board our Viking ship. We welcome these new members of the hidden population in Iceland. But we tell them to watch out for the elves. They can play tricks on you and lure you into the fascinating wonders of the Icelandic nature.

I speak from experience as a Viking and I can tell you that you do not have to be a grown up to be a real Viking. Here we have a hero who helped us discover a new Island on the Reykjavik bay, full of puffins. He named it Puffin cliff and celebrated the successful expedition on our Viking Adventure tour with his younger brother by drinking from a Viking horn. Their mom and dad were thrilled.
