For centuries, this quiet northern valley was the beating heart of power, education, and faith in Iceland. 🏔️🙏 Welcome to Hólar, founded as a bishopric seat in 1106.

Hólar was home to the very first printing press brought to Iceland in the 16th century, sparking a massive wave of literacy across the island. Today, the stunning Hólar Cathedral—built from local red sandstone—stands as a magnificent monument to that golden era.

Don't just see Iceland. Understand it with born-and-raised local guides who know the deep heritage of every valley.

Minimalist, mysterious, and deeply historic. 🖤⛪ The famous Black Church of Búðir sits quietly on the edge of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

While the current building dates to 1848, the very first church on this volcanic landscape was built in 1703, only to be dismantled later. Local history tells us that a single woman, Steinunn Sveinsdóttir, fought tirelessly against church authorities to have it rebuilt exactly where it stands today. Its famous dark color comes from a protective coating of pitch to withstand the fierce Atlantic winds.

Capture unforgettable photos and hear the local stories on our private Snæfellsnes Peninsula Tour.

This isn't a movie set—people called these incredible grass structures home until 1947! 🌾🚪 Glaumbær in Skagafjörður features a beautifully preserved row of turf farmhouses dating back to the 18th century.

Because timber was incredibly scarce in early Iceland, locals masterfully layered river sod to create thick, insulating walls that kept the warmth in during freezing winters. Fun fact: This exact site is mentioned in the ancient Vinland Sagas as the home of early explorers!

Travel through history in total comfort. Our luxury 4x4 vehicles shield you from the elements while our local drivers reveal the secrets of the landscape.

Long before modern shops existed, there was Gásir. 🪙⛵ Hidden along the Eyjafjörður fjord in the North, this was the main trading post of Northern Iceland during the Middle Ages.

Every summer, merchants from all over Europe arrived here on wooden ships to trade luxury goods like silk and pottery for Icelandic wool, falcons, and sulfur. Walking along the shoreline today, you can still feel the echoes of bustling medieval marketplaces.
