🧊 Moulins (French for mill, pronounced moo-lan) are deep, vertical shafts in the glacier formed when surface meltwater finds a crack and starts drilling down through the ice.
💧Think of them as the glacier’s natural plumbing system—swallowing rivers of water and sending them deep into the ice.
😱 They can reach tens of meters down and come in all shapes and shades of blue, white and black (depending of the season), echoing with the roar of rushing meltwater. Some are small and serene, others are wild and powerful - but all of them are mesmerizing.
🤔 Curious? Book a summer glacier hike with us and we’ll take you straight to these icy wonders.
