So many humpback whales are greeting us lately, creating one memorable encounter after another.

The bay has been full of life lately and there are some days when you spend more time looking at whales than looking for them.

These beautiful pictures were taken on one of our recent tours by

We certainly aren't complaining.

Humpback whales have been keeping us busy lately.

On one of our recent tours we encountered 5 different humpback whales feeding throughout the bay. Some stayed alone, while others spent time in the same feeding area, creating fantastic opportunities for observation and photography.

Would you like to challenge your camera to capture a moment like this? Our headguide has mastered it.

Recent days have been colder again but whales don't mind the weather - today we encountered 4 humpback whales! No matter how many times we see them, watching them surface around the boat never gets boring, we can't get enough of it.

Rainy days don’t stop the whales.

While everyone dreams about sunshine and calm seas, some of the most beautiful moments in Skjálfandi Bay happen under grey skies and light rain.

Whales don’t care if it’s raining. They are wet anyway.

One of those moments that reminds us how lucky we are to spend our days out here.

Humpback whales all around. Yesterday in Skjálfandi Bay we were lucky to spend the day with 4 different humpback whales around on the morning tour. Every encounter is different, and that unpredictability is exactly what makes whale watching so special - imagine them popping up right next to the boat like this one in the pictures. We love when this happens.

These stunning pictures were taken on one of our recent tours. Our Naturalist had an incredible moment with a Humpback whale waving it’s flippers out of the water.

Humpback whales have the longest pectoral fins of any whale species, sometimes reaching up to one third of their entire body length. And inside those giant flippers are bones surprisingly similar to a human hand.

The structure changed over millions of years to adapt perfectly for life in the ocean, transforming hands into powerful tools for steering, balance, communication, and movement underwater.

So next time you see a humpback whale lifting a flipper from the sea, remember that he is truly waving at you and inside that giant fin is something strangely familiar.
