The Austvaðsholt farm, which is the heart of Hekluhestar, has the character of a family farm were the horses are the focal point of all activities. Join us on a Summer Night Ride in June, where you ride into the bright Icelandic night. If you
prefer a Day Ride, you can ride with us for one hour up to a day. If you can’t get enough of
riding you are welcome on our Highland tours – 6 and 8 day rides. June to August we offer riding tours through lavafields and volcanic ash desert and other impressive scenery close to the famous volcano Hekla and Landmannalaugar. If you prefer hiking, make it more memorable and Hike with Packhorses

This is our wonderful rider Maya 🤩 she came for the third time this summer and she has always ridden our precious Vordis. They bonded strongly right from the beginning and Maya fell in love with riding again ❤️ She made this beautiful tattoo of Vordis and volcano Hekla and two lupine last year 🤩 Thank you Maya for wanting to come riding with us again and again and creating this beautiful relationship both with our horses but also us 🥰 it means the world to us that we have returning riders, you fill our hearts with joy 🫶🏼

Spói, our Icelandic sheep dog, chilling in front of our farm cottage 🫶🏼 We rent out our two farm cottages the whole year around. They are built with the ancient Scandinavian tradition of having turf on the roof. It’s a great way to naturally insulate the house as well as being noice canceling when the storms are raging out side 💨🌧️
