The Austvaðsholt farm, which is the heart of Hekluhestar, has the character of a family farm were the horses are the focal point of all activities. Join us on a Summer Night Ride in June, where you ride into the bright Icelandic night. If you
prefer a Day Ride, you can ride with us for one hour up to a day. If you can’t get enough of
riding you are welcome on our Highland tours – 6 and 8 day rides

. June to August we offer riding tours through lavafields and volcanic ash desert and other impressive scenery close to the famous volcano Hekla and Landmannalaugar. If you prefer hiking, make it more memorable and Hike with Packhorses

Kjarkur enjoying running in the mountains ⛰️🐴 it’s such a pleasure seeing the horses running through different terrains, up and down, crossing rivers, following narrow sheep roads and rocky glacier terrain. They work different muscles and their mind also, they are so relaxed and the young ones are especially proud of them selfs crossing all these different obstacles 💪🏼
