​Yellow and Orange weather warnings have been issued across Iceland by the Icelandic Meteorological Office (Vedur.is) and SafeTravel Iceland.
​What to expect:
​🌨️ Northwest Iceland, Westfjords & Snæfellsnes Peninsula: Gale-force winds, snow, and severe driving conditions.
​🌧️ Rest of Iceland (South, West & East): Strong winds accompanied by heavy rainfall.
​🚧 High risk of road closures and dangerous crosswinds on open stretches and mountain passes.
​⚠️ Special Safety Advice for Campervans:
​Campervans and high-sided vehicles are extremely vulnerable to strong wind gusts. Driving in these conditions can cause loss of vehicle control or tipping.
​Park Safely: If wind gusts exceed safe limits in your area, park your camper in a sheltered spot facing into the wind.
​Postpone Travel: Avoid mountain passes or open coastal roads during active orange warnings.
​Do Not Risk Road Closures: Closed roads (Ófært / Lokað) are impassable for a reason. Entering them endangers your life and results in heavy rescue fees.
