We visited the new volcano in Fagradalsfjall, called Geldingardalsgos. It’s safe to say that nature put out the most impressive display we have seen in Iceland for years.

An volcanic eruption started 1 hour ago on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

It’s a small volcanic eruption and far from any towns and infrastructure. The police and SAR said that currently there is no public danger. Well, unless you would be standing in the middle of the action.

Currently this event shouldn’t affect your vacation here in Iceland in any way except that you might actually get a chance to see the eruption (from afar) as it’s expected to continue to erupt for days or even weeks.
