The Viking Trail leads us out of Reykjavik towards the prominent agricultural towns of Selfoss and Hvollsvöllur. As we venture further south, the characteristic lowland vistas give way to more mountainous landscapes and soon the ice caps come into view. Glaciers, farmlands and volcanoes await the camera lens on the one side – whilst out to sea, the Westman Islands shimmer seductively on the horizon.

Our first stop takes us to Thingvellir National Park where the Icelandic parliament was founded over 1000 years ago. At Thingvellir, you will see how the earth is ever so slowly pulling apart along the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and you will be able to stand where the Viking settlers stood centuries ago to edict national laws.

Next, you will visit the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur where you can see geysers, hot springs, steam vents and eerie blue algae.

The final stop of the Golden Circle takes you to Gullfoss waterfall, which many consider being the queen of Icelandic waterfalls, as it is both high and mighty and stumbles dramatically in a deep gorge.

Feast on scenic stops at Thingvellir National Park, where Iceland's parliament was founded in 930 A.D. and holds the meeting of the tectonic plates. Geysir geothermal area is quite stunning where you witness the geyser Strokkur erupting every five minutes and the thundering Gullfoss waterfall tops many lists as a powerful and hypnotizing natural phenomenon. To top it off we visit Oxararfoss and Efstidalur dairy farms, where we are always very enthusiastic to taste their organic and homemade ice creams. Very family friendly and has breathtaking scenery.
