Thank you so much, Travelife! 🍃 We're proud to have renewed our Travelife Certified status, and grateful for the recognition.
Meeting more than 200 sustainability criteria is no small thing, and it reflects the genuine commitment of our teams across Europe, our suppliers, and the wider community we work with every day. Sustainability is the foundation our company is built on, and we're excited to keep building on it.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible 💛

Congratulations to Travel Connect 🇮🇸 on their 1st Travelife Certified renewal! 🌿 Achieving certification once is already a proud moment, but renewing it shows something deeper; a long-term dedication to doing things the right way, time and again.

This milestone reflects their continuous efforts to improve sustainability practices across all aspects of their operations. From supporting local communities to reducing environmental impact, they’ve shown that responsible tourism isn’t just a checkbox, it’s a commitment that grows stronger each year. 💪

We’re proud to celebrate this journey with them. Thank you, Travel Connect, for leading by example and proving that consistency, care, and conscious choices can shape a better future for tourism. ✨

Last week we attended the VR Company of the Year ceremony, and we came home with news that made our hearts full 💙

VR's Company of the Year survey is the largest workplace survey in Iceland, with hundreds of companies participating each year. Being nominated places us among the very best employers in the country and that is a huge milestone for us.

Travel Connect was voted Company of the Year 2026 in the large company category. And on top of that, we also received the award for Most Family-Friendly Company of the Year for the first time. We are extremely thankful to our employees for this recognition 💫

To make our celebration even grander, Iceland Travel was recognized as a Model Company, reaching the top 15 for the first time. Joining the most recognized employers in Iceland is no small thing, and we could not be prouder 🙏

These awards are based on how employees experience their workplace, which means the real recognition belongs to our employees. It is the people across our brands and offices who create the culture we all work and thrive in. The energy, the care, the everyday moments that make our work a place people genuinely want to come to 💙

Last week, we gathered in our Reykjavík office with members from three associations to mark the second allocation from the Travel Connect Fund. The fund is built on a simple belief: that tourism should give something meaningful back 💫

Since launching in October 2025, the fund has distributed 13 million ISK across two rounds. This second allocation, in April, directed 6.5 million ISK to five organisations across Iceland and Scotland. Every recipient is chosen by a committee of Travel Connect employees.

In Iceland we supported:

Einstök börn-Stuðningsfélag support over 900 children with rare diseases and more than 4,500 family members through parent groups, peer support for young people aged 15 to 25, and specialist sessions for children under six. The grant will go directly into that group work.

UN Women Ísland will use their grant to amplify Svellið. It’s a new podcast produced by the national committee exploring how men and boys can engage in gender equality, covering topics from social media and mental health to fatherhood, sport, and relationships. Funding will go towards promotion and distribution to reach as wide an audience as possible.

Neistinn supports families of children and young people with heart conditions both socially, financially and emotionally. Their grant will send a group of teenagers to pan-European summer camps in Ireland this summer. For those young people, that opportunity means everything.

In Scotland the chosen projects were:

Steps to Hope SCIO runs a residential recovery programme for people experiencing homelessness and addiction. Their grant will support the activities at the heart of that programme including fitness, wellbeing, massage therapy and group outings that build confidence and show residents that a full life beyond addiction is possible.

The Yard creates inclusive play sessions for disabled children and young people, alongside outreach, respite care and family support. Their work is built on something straightforward but powerful: play is not just fun but essential. Every child deserves access to it.

The Scottish organisations will receive their grants at a ceremony in Scotland, and we look forward to celebrating with them in person.

We're grateful to everyone who applied and nominated. We’re also thankful to the staff committee who made these decisions with real care. This is what the fund is for. Our next round of funding will be in October this year and we encourage everyone that has a project idea we should support to submit an application on our website.

March is Mottumars in Iceland and we went blue for Mottudagurinn 💙
Mottumars is a month dedicated to raising awareness about cancer in men. Our team gathered in the canteen to show their support the best way we know how: by showing up. Blue shirts, blue dresses, and more than a few pairs of Mottumars socks made an appearance.

Early detection and open conversation around men's health saves lives and days like this are a good reminder to check in on the men in our lives 💙

What an inspiring day at Framadagar 🌟
We had a great time at Háskólinn í Reykjavík connecting with students about careers in travel and tourism. The conversations were inspiring and the energy was incredible.

⚡ Everyone who visited our booth received R8ient Electrolytes to support energy and focus during busy schedules and long study sessions!
🎉 Students also entered our raffle and got the chance to win amazing experiences in Iceland!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat with our People and Culture team. We're excited about the future and hope to welcome many of you to Travel Connect or one of our brands!

We're excited to share the success of our 7-hour workday (35-hour week) project at Travel Connect! Our goal? To improve our employees’ work-life balance without compromising quality.

By embracing a “continuous improvement” mindset, we’ve been able to shorten the workday without cutting breaks or personal development time. This means optimising workflows, fostering interdepartmental collaboration, and equipping the team with time and stress management techniques to boost well-being.

The result? We've seen significant improvement in work-life balance, leading to a more positive and productive work environment while maintaining customer service excellence.

We believe well-being is the cornerstone of a thriving work environment. This is why we’re in the process of rolling out the 7-hour workday across all Travel Connect brands.

For World Environment Day, our Edinburgh-based Travel Connect and Nordic Visitor Scotland colleagues recently took part in a conservation day.

The team, plus their families, met at Corstorphine Hill to remove invasive species under the careful guidance of The Green Team (Edinburgh and Lothians). The goal? To give space back to native flora and fauna. The kids, meanwhile, learned about the species around them, tried their hand at nature crafts, toasted marshmallows and more.

Of course, spending time outdoors doing conservation work isn’t just great for the environment, it also boosts our well-being. So thanks to Edinburgh’s Green Team and the Sustainability Committee for a fantastic day out!
