The midnight sun is back — and so are the evening whale watching tours!

We launched our first "Whales in the Midnight Sun" tour of the season last weekend, and the ocean didn't disappoint..

Humpbacks surfacing under the golden glow of Iceland's endless daylight and the mountains bathed in amber light - this is whale watching like nowhere else on earth.

Our Premium Whales in the Midnight Sun tours are running now through the end of August — departing daily at 20:00, or 19:00 in August, for 2 hours on the water.

And from June 15th, our Classic Midnight Sun Tour joins the lineup for those who prefer the larger boat.

The whales are here. The sun won't set. All that's missing is you.

**English Below**

Meet the women charting Iceland's waters.

They're the captains navigating through Faxaflói or Eyjafjörður. The naturalists explaining the wildlife. The CEOs steering the companies forward. The deckhands securing lines in harbour winds.

Today, on the International Day for Women in Maritime, we're celebrating the women who make up the heart of Elding Whale Watching, Whale Watching Akureyri, and Whale Safari.

30% of our captains are women. Our companies are led by women. And across our crews — from the helm to the passenger deck — women aren't the exception. They're the standard.

The maritime industry globally? 2% of captains are women. We're proving that number is a choice, not a ceiling.

Here's to the women commanding vessels, leading companies, and redefining what a maritime career looks like.

Puffin Season is in Full Swing! 🐧❤️

Our adorable feathered friends are back and settling into their island homes after returning to Iceland a couple of weeks ago. It's truly wonderful to see them again!

These charming seabirds with their colourful beaks and quirky personalities never fail to delight our guests. Whether they're waddling along the cliffs, diving for fish, or simply posing for photos, puffins always steal the show.

We run 6 tours daily throughout May, so there are plenty of opportunities to see these icons up close.

🐋 Teeth or No Teeth? That Is the Question! 🦷

What's the difference between whales, dolphins, and porpoises? It all comes down to what's in their mouths!

Our latest blog by our research team explores the fascinating split between toothed whales (like dolphins with their echolocation superpowers) and baleen whales (like humpbacks with their bristly filter-feeding plates).

Discover how these amazing cetaceans hunt, communicate, and thrive in our oceans! 🌊

Read the full blog:

The cetacean group includes all species of whales, dolphins and porpoises. There are over 90 different species of cetacean in the world – ranging from the tiny endangered vaquita to the largest animal to ever live on the planet, the blue whale. These species are split into two different subgroups ...

Dive Bombers of Faxaflói Bay! 🎯🦅

The Northern Gannet is one of nature's most impressive divers, plunging into the water at speeds of up to 100 km/h from heights of 30 meters or more! To withstand such powerful impact, they have specially adapted air sacs in their face and chest that act like cushions.

Their hunting technique is extraordinary - they fold their wings back in a streamlined arrow shape, entering the water with precision to catch fish several meters below the surface. When you see gannets diving around our boats, you know the bay is full of life! 🐟

The Final Dance 💚✨

Our Northern Lights season is coming to a close, with our last cruise departing tomorrow, April 15th.

As the nights grow shorter and spring takes hold, we say goodbye to the Aurora Borealis until autumn returns. It's been an incredible season filled with magical displays dancing across the Icelandic sky.

These beautiful photos were captured this April by naturalists Kylie, Maria & Milla. 📸

As one season ends, another begins - when the Northern Lights finish, the puffins return soon after! 🐧 Keep an eye out for updates on our puffin tours.
